We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Eastside Razor. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Eastside below.
Eastside , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
At this moment i would have to say “Sink Or Swim” would be the most meaningful. I started working on this project months after i got out of jail; weeks after i met my now wife. It just seems like it was the first project as the new and improved me. The title represents my mindset at the time. I’m jumping off the deep end taking a risks to put my TEAM in a better position . Swimming is positive movement, sinking…kind of speaks for itself. I use this as motivation when i’m under pressure. I’m an Aquarius so it was only right for the H20 reference. With that being said this has been a breakthrough time in my life, I invested in myself, and this release has been doing great. However my new project “Big 40” is on the way and OH MY GOD!!!
Eastside , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I was born in queens NY. Moved to Raleigh NC as a youth, i am the youngest out of 3 with 2 older sisters (love yall). My father was a big inspiration being a dj as well as being a stand up guy. I feel the pressures of keeping up with him lol that helps me with my discipline. Understanding i have to keep my family looking good. I dont like failing even though it motivates me. I promote good energy through actions and music. Currently embracing my age and using my life lessons to help guide the kids. I got into the industry very young at Enloe High School in a group called The Paradox. That was pretty much all produced by thee Black Jeruz (google him). That catapulted me into college where i met Louis Martinez who is currently acting and formed Major Threat. lol google him as well. From there i met a team of djs such as Dj Flash, Dj MC, and Dj Skillz who would have me at almost every party in north carolina.
With over 20 years invested in this game all the knowledge ive’d gained… i plan on giving back to the kids. I believe this is what makes me stand out. THA STADIUMZ will be the first major artist development center. Where kids will have access to all things entertainment, where i will use my resources to help build future stars.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Just being able to create something from scratch. To be the reason an idea came to life and actually see it have an impact on people . Greatest feeling ever. God like in a way. I also get a rush from watching the numbers of streams rise.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I used to be so familiar with 2nd and 3rd place it got comfortable. i was an athlete once and was around a lot of record setting nba and now nfl players. I was always good but never the best. Its a complex i have. How do i get 3rd and brake a record? The other record breakers were teammates. I used to judge myself by others. I had to unlearn that . Everybody has their own story and lane. The ability to understand timing matters . Unlearn that not getting first place when You want it equals Failure. All of this has sparked this crash course to success i am currently on.
