We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Easton Max Edwin. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Easton Max below.
Alright, Easton Max thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Let me first answer your question with a question… how does one measure success? I believe everyone’s ideology of success is vastly different. For me, success is having goals and dreams, and setting out to accomplish them. I believe that success comes from within, from your values, work ethic, drive and ambition. While everyone’s optic of success will vary, if one is truly happy with their accomplishments and where they are in their lives, that to me, is success. Now, if you were to ask me what it takes to accomplish those goals and dreams, I would have to say working hard and giving everything you have into obtaining them. Whether that is furthering your education, saving to purchase a home, working hard to land that promotion; these are just a few examples of accomplishments that one might focus on to attain a certain level of success.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
An avid traveler, fitness lover and art enthusiast, I was born and raised in New York. Having no background in television, and only years of hands on work experience in the Fashion Industry, I ventured into the wild world of television in 2010. I started off working on the first season of a PIX11 Talk Show, primarily focusing on audience, casting and management, and I loved it. It opened my eyes to both working in-office, as well as on-set, and was a great opportunity to get my feet wet. Looking back on my 14 years in this industry, I wouldn’t have changed a thing about how I started out. From there, I ventured out into Reality TV casting, and it stuck. Working primarily in Reality TV/Unscripted, I dabbled here and there in Docu’s, Scripted, Branded Media, and Commercials, working across an array of primetime/cable networks and major streaming services. While my primary focus over the years has been in casting, I also have experience in producing, directing, development, and editing. Some of my prouder moments working in television, would have to be casting those on shows that truly impact someone’s life in a positive way. For example, casting a small business owner or homeowner in desperate need of a renovation, where they receive a free and life-changing renovation for their small business or home. Being able to be involved in any production that gives back in some way, is truly the best feeling.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I have always, and will always give 110% to anything that I set out to do. I believe that is one characteristic of mine that assisted in building my reputation in this industry. I work hard, maybe too hard at times, but my focus is always accomplishing the task at hand to be done to the best of its abilities. When I am hired for a project, my employer knows exactly what they are going to get by hiring me. I think the stability of knowing that and the knowledge of my work ethic are seen as assets, when trying to find someone to get the job done. Additionally, I believe word of mouth helped build my reputation. If someone likes the work you do, or enjoys working with you, it aids in future opportunities. Building those work relationships and networking is hugely beneficial to growing and sustaining one’s professional reputation.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Many may not know this, but I was actually an Art major in University. Illustration, photography, graphic design, painting, they were all passions and hobbies of mine. I have always loved the arts, music and entertainment. While I didn’t expect to work in television at that age, I’m definitely not surprised I ended up in a creative field. The most rewarding aspect for me about being a creative is getting to create something beautiful, whether that is in a casting edit, or a personality come to life on television, professionally speaking. But even being able to create something beautiful, like a sketch in my spare time, is rewarding. Just the notion of creating something is rewarding in itself.
