We caught up with the brilliant and insightful E Simone Scott a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
E Simone , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
I had the idea for Early Bird Notary Services LLC and my wedding officiant business, Marry You? I Do!!!, I recognized opportunities to serve my community in meaningful ways. For Early Bird Notary Services, I researched the market, completed all legal requirements, formed my LLC, and built a strong online presence to attract clients. For Marry You? I Do!!!, I saw a need for personalized, heartfelt ceremonies, so I connected with couples and local vendors, promoted my services online, and began performing weddings. I travel wherever the clients are if the price is right, and I’m proud to be celebrating five years of successfully running these businesses. Taking these ideas from concept to reality required planning, persistence, and consistent action, and now both businesses are fully operational, actively serving clients, and steadily growing.”

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m a driven and resilient entrepreneur who has turned challenges into opportunities. Growing up, I faced hardships that taught me independence, perseverance, and the value of hard work. Over the years, I’ve built multiple businesses from the ground up — including Early Bird Notary Services LLC, a mobile notary business, and Marry You? I Do!!!, my wedding officiant service — both of which I’m proud to be celebrating five years of successfully running. I travel wherever my clients need me, offering professional, reliable, and personalized services. Beyond my businesses, I’m passionate about helping people in meaningful ways, whether it’s making legal processes easier through notary services or creating unforgettable moments for couples on their wedding day. I’m committed, authentic, and always looking for ways to grow, serve, and make an impact.”

Can you talk to us about how you funded your business?
⸻
“I funded both of my businesses through careful planning and resourcefulness. For Early Bird Notary Services LLC and Marry You? I Do!!!, I started with my personal savings and reinvested earnings as the businesses began generating income. I focused on keeping costs low, prioritizing essential investments like legal filings, marketing, and tools to deliver professional, high-quality services. By being strategic and disciplined with my finances, I was able to launch both businesses successfully, grow them steadily, and now I’m celebrating five years of serving clients while maintaining financial stability and independence.”

Any fun sales or marketing stories?
⸻
“There was a time I took a last-minute housekeeping job because I felt I wasn’t making enough money in my businesses. On my first day, I was unexpectedly fired. While sitting in the hotel lobby waiting for my Uber, I didn’t let it discourage me — instead, I posted marketing content for both Early Bird Notary Services LLC and my wedding officiant business, Marry You? I Do!!!. Ten minutes after my first post, I got a client. Twenty minutes later, I booked five more. That day, I made $100 on notary work, and I knew I was on the path to growing my businesses. That moment reinforced my belief in myself and showed me that focusing on my own ventures, even in tough situations, would lead to real results. Today, both businesses are thriving, and I’m proud to be celebrating five years of success.”
