We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful E Kapri. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with E below.
E, appreciate you joining us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
Well, art has always been apart of my life in some way. I just wish I would have taken it more seriously sooner. I never looked at it as an opportunity when I was younger and I think that was my mistake. Art is everywhere it’s needed. Expression in different ways is always important.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m E.Kapri an artist from Detroit, Mi. Art has been in my soul forever and it’s something I’ve grown to love more and more. My journey with art has had many ups and downs but in 2020 I decided to jump in full time. I started GiaArts with an amazing push from God and have been going ever since. Resin art, Acrylic pouring paintings, alcohol ink, textured paintings are some of the types of art I’m known for. I recently started learning some new things I’m so excited to share. I love when costumers come to me about creating something for them because I can share new ideas and it makes the work that much more unique. I think what I want everyone to know is I’m just a vessel and I let the Lord do his thing I create each piece with that frame of mind. Im thankful for the gifts God has given me and it’s so rewarding because I get to share it with people and God gets the glory. Im proud of how far I’ve come and I’m going to continue to push through.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I’m a perfectionist lol so when I’m working on a peice I can be very hard on myself and then instead of stopping and taking a breath I try to push through. I ended up ruining a lot of work that way. So I had to learn the hard way to take a step back regroup and come back, Now when I do that I usually have even better ideas than I started with. I’ve learned to give myself grace.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I think when I get to do interviews like these or when I see the look on a customer’s face after a purchase that’s the most rewarding thing. Knowing that God gave me a gift that can make another person smile or feel joy that to me is so amazing. I’ll always cherish that.
