We recently connected with DZE LIKE RZA and have shared our conversation below.
DZE, appreciate you joining us today. What’s been one of the most interesting investments you’ve made – and did you win or lose? (Note, these responses are only intended as entertainment and shouldn’t be construed as investment advice)
My worst investment was going to school for something i’m not passionate about. There was a point in time where I was looking for a trade to help fund what I really wanted to do. I ended up narrowing it down between CDL driving and working on cars. It was a mistake because it took away a lot of valuable time I could have put into my music career. I was trying to make sure I had a plan B or something to fall back on when in reality I knew I couldn’t see myself working in those trades longterm. Even though I did graduate from AAI I never really put that to use and eventually went back to school for audio engineering and all that time and energy really helped build my music quality and the opportunities I have to work in the music industry now.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I go by (dizzy) DZE LIKE RZA. I’ve been writing and making music since elementary. BZE records has been an idea since the beginning and I was able to bring it into existence after I graduated from the Conservatory of Recording Arts & Sciences last year. BZE Records & Entertainment is kind of split off into 2 sections: BZE Records & BZE Entertainment. The entertainment side has been more tech oriented & I have been able to bring in income doing A/V(Audio Visual) , operating boards , & engineering different events. I don’t quite have a building for recording yet but I offer mixing and mastering, cover art, video editing, event set up ect. BZE Records is the performing side and we have our first project “Sensei DZE” ready to be rolled out soon. Recently we teamed up Steez Visuals to shoot and edit the rooftop video for DZE LIKE RZA’s “1985” remix.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn not to think about every possible outcome. I’m still working on it but definitely had to learn how to just go with the flow and adjust rather than try to control the outcome of things that I really had no control over in the first place.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me I like seeing the final product finally come to life. I feel like a lot of the ideas I do have are unfinished or in progress so when I write a new track I might keep practicing it until it gets old to me lol, but I love sitting and listening to the finished versions of my songs or mixes and seeing how people react on their first listen.
