Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dzar The rapper. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Dzar, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I learned how to rap by studying the music of my favorite rappers. The rappers I liked and focused on the most were Jay z, Nas, Tupac, Biggie, Tyler the Creator, earl sweatshirt, Royce the 5’9”, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, and Mac miller. It took me years to reach the level I am at creatively as an mc. Those artists have influenced and inspired me a lot on my journey. When I would skip school assignments to focus on any creative ideas that I had at the moment, I was listening to their music. I would study the style of their flows and delivery. While listening to all those different artists, I eventually came up with an original Style; that is unique to me. The only thing I wish I would’ve done was, Perform on stage when I was younger. as a high schooler, there was no place to go and perform rhymes that I knew. I eventually gained plenty of experience performing in front of people on multiple occasions. If I knew the location of open mics, I believe learning earlier would’ve prepared me more.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a Rapper/Artist that goes by the name Dzar the rapper. I have been rapping since I was 16 years old. When I was younger, I became a student of hip-hop music. If I wasn’t playing video games or watching movies, I was listening to a lot of music. I started out Freestyling with friends in high school, then on my own; I started to become more passionate about rhyming words and putting together punchlines and metaphors. I have spent many years sharpening up as an artist; I am continuing to only get better at my craft. I am not just focused on rhyming but painting a picture for the audience with my words and providing songs that they will enjoy and be inspired by on their journey through life. Not only do I enjoy; taking the lyrics and ideas that I have for a song and rapping them out onto dope beats/production, but I also like to collaborate with different producers and artists that I have come across who understand the artistic vision that I have in mind. My goals as an artist are to make collaborative connections and make bigger and better projects of music for the fans that are tuned in now and listeners that will come across me in the future that are willing to listen to great music .
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being creative is being able to make the ideas that are in my head a reality. I love coming up with something unique or complex and finding a way to bring it into the world. At times it can be challenging when it comes to some ideas; some ideas may take a long time to pull into the real world, but I am always determined to do it because, as an artist, I am pushing myself to innovate and create something that has not been, made before.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
I wish I had gone to more open mics and music events earlier in my creative journey. Connecting with different people in the last couple of years has helped me along my journey. I have become friends with a lot of new artists and producers. With those different connections, I have thought of more possible moves for my music career to move forward. I gained experience that I did not have when I was younger. I was starting with no knowledge of anything about the music industry. Now I have utilized Instagram and Eventbrite to stay aware of open mics and music events that are coming up.
