We recently connected with Dysheen Davis and have shared our conversation below.
Dysheen, appreciate you joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
I have been in the Business of photography and coming up with a catching name for your business can be hard. You want a name your client can remember and is also catchy. I first started with the name Vista Media Creations, which translates to New Media Creations. While fresh and new, it didnt catch on like i had hoped and a few years later i had to go with a total rebrand. So i started thinking of something catchy and i also wanted to incorporate my name in some fashion. So taking the first three letter of my name with is DDD, i came up with “3D”, mixed with Media became “M”. Born was 3DM Photography and 3DM Fashion.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m the owner of 3DM Photography, and I’m proud to be a Getty-certified fashion photographer based in Queens, New York. My work is known for its detailed and precise shooting style, with a strong emphasis on high-quality editing and capturing authentic moments. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to shoot runways at New York Fashion Week and Fashion Week Columbus. Currently, I’m the Lead Photographer for The Fashion Shows at Art Basel Miami Beach, where I continue to explore and showcase the intersection of fashion and lifestyle.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
When i started 20 plus years ago you just had books and some mentoring programs to learn, or schooling options. Now you have a broader range of resources like Instagram and Youtube to get valuable information about photography and other creative subjects. I would have definitely would have been ahead if the curve if i had those at my disposal at the time i was learning.
