We recently connected with Dynez Dennis and have shared our conversation below.
Dynez , appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
When I think back on when I knew I wanted to be an entertainer, the feels came for me at a very early age, it was inadvertent. Like, I always had a passion for music and I knew within that if I could cultivate this thing inside of me I would be great. Coming from a church upbringing, when it was known that I had a voice, I was immediately pushed to the front. I fought the urges and expectations, I was somewhat a rebel even then. However, it wasn’t until my fifth grade talent show that the trajectory of my path would change for my lifetime. I remember the auditorium being so loud with people talking and conversing in between acts. When I approached the mic, I wasn’t nervous, a little anxious, but more so ready to silence the noise with my gift. As the track began to play, light chatter still echoed in the room and then I sang, “I believe the children are future, teach them well and let them lead the way”. After that line was sung a hush came over the room. That same quiet stillness lasted until my very last word, and then sounds of thunderous applause and shouts consumed the entire auditorium. I knew in that moment, this is what I am I supposed to do, and this is the way that I get heard.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
For those that do not know me, let me first say that the “Y” in my name is silent. I’m not Dy-Nez, its just Dynez lol. Now back to the original question. Who is Dynez? I’m just a fun, big hearted, boy from the country who loves to sing. I’ve been inspired by so many great talents that came before me, and few current ones of today. I’ve alway had dreams of reaching people through my music in similar manners of those who spoke to me through their music. The sacrifices I’ve made to be the Entertainer I am today have not come at cheap price. In turn I wouldn’t change anything about my journey; I just continue to strive and be greater than I was yesterday. What I am most proud of is my tenacity and sustainability. This business is not for the weak or timid. But I always say, and truly live by is “if I can help just one person with my music, I’m doing the right thing”. Not just singing but I write my music, and my music is based on my life moments. There have been many times in my life when I had nothing but God and music to get me through rough times. I have many younger relatives who have aspirations in entertainment and I feel like its my job to set an example for them. Being in control of my own career, brand, and label I get to be exactly who I want to be. When someone looks at me I want them to see a person of integrity, great strength, and strong values. I started with a dream and now I’m expanding beyond just music, and I’m so excited to share all of my talents with the world.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
I love this question. I say this all the time, what society can do to support artists, creatives is just that, support. I’m a firm believer in supporting the artists that you know the same way you support a celebrity that you don’t know. Its baffling to me the amount of time and attention that is put into a stranger celebrity, whether it’s a story share, a song download, a handmade portrait, whatever. Yet none of that energy is put into someone who you have a relationship with. Memes exist solely from word of mouth, not literally at times, but the shares of the action from sending those memes. It costs nothing to share information with others yet some just do not, and that comes at a great detriment to the creator. Ultimately, I believe it is our responsibility to help one another without seeking anything in return. One thing for certain is the power of social media, and it’s been proven that anything can happen. Most success experiences, as it pertains to social media, have just been on happenstance and through a series of shares.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is the ability to be a voice to someone who might not otherwise be heard. In music there have been many people who were mocked and ostracized simply because they were the first. However, that artist took every hit and continued to run their race so that the person behind them wouldn’t have to run but so far. I’m very grateful to see so many young individuals taking charge of their destiny and going towards their dreams. Although I’m not on a major scale like some of the bigger names (yet), I’m thankful that I have done the work; and took the hits to make the path smoother, for the ones in my world, that do know me.
