We were lucky to catch up with Dynasti Smith-Malone recently and have shared our conversation below.
Dynasti , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
I am very happy as a creative. I believe I’m the most grounded, yet the most free I’ve ever been in my life. At times that this journey gets difficult I do wonder if taking the 9-5 route would be easier to manage, and then I think about how fulfilling this path already is to me and know within myself I’ve made the right decision with choosing this path and will continue to do so.
Dynasti , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a Scholar who happens to own an entertainment company. I first ventured into the performing arts as a child being in love with both literature and music. Over at Left 2B Write we provide audio and visual entertainment by way of music and web shows currently. We also provide voice over work, script writing, and marketing and promotional services for businesses. What sets us apart from others is that we at Left 2B Write want to provide “your” clearest picture to the world. We don’t just take your ideas and eat them, or feed you what we believe is best, we take your vision and put it through a new lenses that opens the world of possiblities to both the business and their customers. I am most proud of the growth within the last year with the company both in vision and trust. I am proud of the way we were able to navigate this transitioning season and embrace the new path that has emerged because of it. I would like our supporters to know that with us “you have always mattered!” Our only hope is to provide a pathway and platform that allows for truth, honesty, and authenticity to live freely!
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect about being an artist or creative is that through life and work I have no restraints as to how to live my life. It’s the freedom and sense of security provided that gives me joy when I need it most. It’s almost as if at times this life takes on a form of its own and gives back and feeds into me just as much if not more than what I have put into it. It’s forever learning, teaching, and growing me that makes it well worth it. A journey of a lifetime, and the craziest part about it is that it is my journey, it is my lifetime. A life time full of moments that only give in the end.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
There’s no such thing as “right timing,” and you will never be fully prepared for the work set for you. I struggled a little witih this because I felt like this was something that everybody would know, yet this was also something I thought I knew and had to adjust and rethink what I knew. Recently I had an opportunity to speak on a panel about music and how community could be built from it. Now, with my years of experience in doing music alone, and the seven pages of notes I had prepared for it, I used none of them. As soon as it was my turn to speak my mind went blank and in that moment I had to go with what I knew in the moment.
