We were lucky to catch up with Dylan Wirtzfeld recently and have shared our conversation below.
Dylan, appreciate you joining us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My parents taught me the value of hard work and leadership. My dad has owned a small business for many years worked 70-80 hours a week. Hes never slowed down or lost passion for his business. In factor he has a hard time leaving his business sometime. It’s what inspired me to own my own business today. My dad was also the one that introduced me to the love for health and fitness. When I was in 6th grade I started weight lifting in our basement. So I guess you could say he was one the that sparked my interest in business and health/fitness. My mom also was a very hard worker she worked in human services and was the regional director for a large group home corporation. I saw her work from the bottom the corporation as a direct care provider to the upper leadership and brains of every one of there group home in the central MN area. Aside from my moms hard long hours. I was most inspired by her leadership style. She actually individual went to theses homes met the staff and clients that lived there. She cared a lot about everything underneath her and it showed everyone loved working with and for her. So to conclude I have learned to give people my heart, show my passion and work hard
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My names Dylan Wirtzfeld I have been within the health/fitness industry for 8 years personal training and doing herbalife as well working out of gyms and nutrition clubs as an independent or employee Now I own Flat Iron Nutrition my first business. We have been in business for almost 2 years. We serve meal replacement shakes, after work out protein shakes, healthy energy drinks, teas, and protein treats. Flat Iron was a dream but not ideal for my first business. A dream because loved the concept of a nutrition club providing good nutrition and positive vibes to all customers this was my calling and I plan on opening many more after Flat Iron. This was a great opportunity to get my feet wet in business close to home with connections already kindled. It was not ideal because during the pandemic this location suffered greatly so I faced with the huge task to rebuild customer base. What sets us apart from other shops is a vibe and leaving the customer feeling amazing when they leave. We are very meticulous with the shakes are blended perfectly creamy and are drinks are all very aesthetic looking. The problems we solve are convenience they grabbing a shake instead of something unhealthy for breakfast or lunch and enhancing people’s health/fitness. Aside from the shakes and teas in store we also provide help for others to develop a personalized plan to achieve their health and fitness goals. Our Mission statement is make our community a healthier and happier. By being the energy we want to attract to inspire others to there best self
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
How we built our social media audience is through content creating being engaging make really sharpe looking real life content. We have used photographer and content creating friends. We also use a lot ideas from other accounts and businesses like ours. Aside from that we stay consistent posting twice daily. Taking pictures of customers asking for permission to tag them. Offering a small discount to posting a picture of their shake or tea on their instagram story and tagging @Flat_iron_nutrition. This helped us extremely expand our horizon of audience. Social media giveaways with other businesses
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
When I was very young went through traumatic brain surgery it was a full year of recovery, therapy and relearning all gross motor.. That life altering experience from a young age that developed resilience and determination because I was granted another shot at life. So with most things I battle longer then anybody would. And have a higher physical and mental pain tolerance.
