We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dylan Tran. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dylan below.
Dylan, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
When I got into photography and videography I watch many youtube videos of people traveling and going on crazy adventures learning how to edit, film, color grade, and everything to become like them one-day creating things that I wanted to do. After learning what I know now, what I could’ve done to speed up the process was to be consistent in my craft and challenge myself to do better showing what’s the difference between me and other creators. The most essential skills are learning how to use your exposer, aperture, and iso on a camera. The reason why is because if you were to get a picture of an object or landscape that is clear and detailed. You would have to use the camera settings that you have on the camera. After my friend taught me how to properly use my camera settings, it changed my life forever, and what stood in the way from me learning new things and failing at my work knowing it isn’t good enough, or comparing myself to others why haven’t I reached my full potential as they have. So I hope one day or sooner I will reach that goal of becoming the best I can be creating and having fun at the sametime as a photographer and videographer.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Hi there! for those who don’t know me my name is dylan, I’m a photographer and videographer in San Diego. I’m 23 years old majoring in business to pursue and uprise my dream career. I got into my craft by watching youtube videos in 2018. After graduating from high school I bought my first camera and still use it to this day helping me start my own business by taking pictures of people I created with. By using my imagination and drive to improve my skills it taught me so much by putting in the hard work showing how far I’ve come from where it all began. When I did my first photoshoot I had to figure out so many problems which are ideas, style, theme, location, and the person who was available to do it. After figuring out what to do for so many years and still learning it’s fun to connect with people who are open-minded to your creativity and vision making it come to real life. What I want for my future clients, fans, and brands to know about me is that I’m a normal human being who’s willing to put in the work and time to create and help people make their visions come true as well.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative is getting to create things you like to do with people who are willing to help you out at any time on your idea and editing. After seeing your work come to life piece by piece it keeps your imagination going to see what other plans you want to recreate or inspire you from movies or short films. Especially, buying new camera gear as well that can help your skills improve even more for future projects and clients that might actually like your work.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
The goal of my creative journey is to prove to people who didn’t believe in me or doubted me in chasing my dream as a photographer and videographer. Once I reach that goal I want to show them dreams do come true by hard work. After proving myself and to others I will continue my work improving my skills to a whole new level creating things that no one hasn’t seen so far. But that’s my goal for this year and hopefully in the future to continue my photography and videography dream.
