We were lucky to catch up with Dylan, Scott, Lonzo, Francis, Nic, and Chris recently and have shared our conversation below.
Dylan, Scott, Lonzo, Francis, Nic, and Chris, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. One of our favorite things to hear about is stories around the nicest thing someone has done for someone else – what’s the nicest thing someone has ever done for you?
Earlier this year Dylan, Scott, and Lonzo played a gig at a local venue in Pomona called DBA, and one of the guys in the audience had brought some art supplies. Turns out while they were playing this guy had drawn them playing live, and after the show he came up and gave it to the band. It was hands down one of the coolest things we’ve received so far as a band and hopefully we’ll be able to add more stuff like that to our collections as time goes on.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
We are a six man rock group based out of Chino, California. Our frontman and leader, Dylan Harris, started the group back in 2019 as The Looselips and since then it has evolved into what is now with our drummer Lonzo, keyboardist Francis Abastillas, bass guitarist Nic Montell, and guitarists Scott Yergens and Chris Argueta Jr.. Our music combines the best of the California sound with the garage rock edge of the late ’60s/early 2000’s, and it is always evolving in an effort to keep the high standard set by the greats before us. With our latest musical evolution, we find ourselves expanding more into psychedelic music inspired by groups like Tame Impala, Khruangbin, and Radiohead, and those new sounds can be heard on our forthcoming sophomore LP, due to be released in late Spring of next year.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Simply put just being able to create music we love and have fun doing it is the most rewarding aspect of being in a band. It’s nice to be able to go out there whether it be in front of a live audience or on a record and just be able to share a fresh new lens with the world through our music, and the fans who have joined us on our journey have made it all the more better by listening to our music and supporting our mission.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Our goal is to always be evolving and moving forward with our music. We don’t just want to stay in a box or in our comfort zone of making music that could be the soundtrack for your drive down Pacific Coast Highway, we want to be able to continue innovating and setting a new standard that groups like The Beatles and The Beach Boys did before us.
