We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dylan Rogers. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dylan below.
Dylan, appreciate you joining us today. f you needed to find a key partner or facility – how did you find them, what was the process of striking a deal like and what would you do differently knowing what you know now?
A big part of my company’s success would be credited to the vendors, venues , and other creatives that I’ve worked with and built lasting relationships with. As a wedding videographer this can be a huge factor in how many bookings you are getting, the quality of the leads you are receiving , as well as making it easier to coordinate with those other creatives while shooting together. At the beginning stages of my business I always went after individual clients such as couples that were getting married soon. After I built a relationship with a venue and realized the potential behind that I quickly shifted my target audience and started to get in contact with as many venue owners, coordinators, and photographers as possible.
Dylan, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Dylan Rogers, I am a freelance Wedding Filmmaker located in Nashville Tn. I started my creative journey pursuit learning and creating music. Along this journey I also learned photo and video skills while going to school for music. Shortly after graduation and receiving my bachelors degree I shot my first wedding for a family/ friend back in 2017 and haven’t looked back since. Shooting that one wedding, getting home and editing it was all I needed for me to know this was what I wanted to do. I’ll never forget the goosebumps I got from putting that first film together, mainly because those goosebumps still happen every single time I edit a film. As humans I think we are used to overlooking the very simple but very special moments in our life, even on special days like a wedding they’re gone in a blink of an eye. Capturing all of those little moments from the day and being able to create a film where you get to re live them and bring your attention back to those special moments is absolutely magical to me. I want to give couples a film they can watch when they are 60, show their children and bring tears to all of their eyes. I want to help people cherish these incredible moments forever.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me the most rewarding part of the job is simply getting paid to do something I would love to do anyway. They say do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life. Finding this passion made me understand that completely. Every time I sit down to edit, or head to a wedding to shoot I don’t dread it. I’m always looking forward to the next shoot, how I’m going to do better, what new techniques I can try. It’s incredibly important to me having a job that keeps this passion alive within me because it it’s what give me drive, and motivation to always want to do and be better.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
One of the best thing that helped me build a good reputation for my business is simply quality product. Most of my work and business comes from referrals of people of have seen my recent work. Just keeping an active presence on social media and consistently showing that you have a valuable product will lead more people your way,
