We were lucky to catch up with Dylan Quint recently and have shared our conversation below.
Dylan, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
Immediately after picking up the trumpet, I knew it was something I couldn’t give up ever. I almost immediately made a decision to continue on this path for the rest of my life. It was a no brainer for me and I am sure there are other creatives who have the exact same story. Whenever anyone asks what my plan B is, I always say there isn’t. It isn’t even a possible outcome in my mind. That’s why I trust the process and always ask questions.

Dylan, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a trumpet player, pianist, and producer. I specialize in playing jazz music and have been featured in the Grand Central Avenue Jazz Festival, played with the Soul Juice Band at Warnerpark Amphitheater, and played at the Catalina Club. I regularly play with Personanongratamusic as a trumpet or keys player.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
For the last 4 months, I went through some issues with my lip setup on the trumpet. It took a lot of readjustments that set back my progress but I stuck with it in order to get back to a comfortable place to play the horn. I am now back to where I want to be playing comfortably in all registers of the trumpet and although it came a lot slower that I would have liked, the results have shown as a result of my hard work.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
What gives me the most excitement is the thought of people listening to my music. As simple as it is, it’s why we spend so many hours working on our voice. Our voice wants to be heard.
