We were lucky to catch up with Dylan Kelehan recently and have shared our conversation below.
Dylan, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Stay busy with things you love.
Keep a healthy balance between work, family and fun.
Make fun part of your job and it will be easier to keep up friendships and social activities.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m accidentally a musician/businessman. I never set out to do either but found both to be interesting and fun!
I found out that I was a decent musician and that I could get paid to play it and thought that would be a worthy cause to pursue. So I perform because it’s fun and l can get paid to do it.
The pandemic caused live music to stop so I opened a music store and found more passion and excitement in that field as well.
So now I perform and support my community with lessons, sales, rentals, repairs and more!

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
From 2016-2020 I performed music as my main source of income. Then the pandemic stopped that so I opened a music store to feed my family. Didn’t mean to do it, but it was fun and helped me support my family.

We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
My partner Jeff and I were in a band together. Jeff went on to pursue a career in helping people with disabilities and I kept performing. Jeff is very passionate and has immense integrity. So I partnered with him and his wife Caroline. Together we form a triumphant triumvirate and support each other through all the trials and triumphs.
