We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dylan Collado. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dylan below.
Dylan, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today I’m sure there have been days where the challenges of being an artist or creative force you to think about what it would be like to just have a regular job. When’s the last time you felt that way? Did you have any insights from the experience?
As scary as it can be sometimes. Yes , I am happy to be doing what I love everyday , paths can change and there will be always be obstacles that will make it difficult to grow but by doing what I love I get to learn more things everyday, more experiences and stories that make my heart full
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hi I’m Dylan. Im 20 years old and I started my career really early , lived in Medellin, Colombia. It was during the pandemic I started creating makeup content when I was 16 while I was getting to know my true self had nothing , just a phone and a blank paper that worked as my wallpaper… I’ve always had a passion for everything related to arts and entertainment as I also am a Dancer, I wanted to share what made me happy with the people who little by little started to support my work . I started growing my platforms for just being me and that made me feel so special , I started receiving customers that wanted me to do my art on them and that meant a lot ! Started receiving income and public relations with the biggest brands in the beauty industry, I never thought I was going to get to where I am now. Everything felt like a dream but there was something that didn’t let me feel enough and it was the thought of not settling and wanting a bigger challenge, when I turned 18 I took the decision to come to America where I’m originally from, a more expanded world in the beauty industry and professionalism in what I do ! So satisfied for everything I did in Colombia and all the love and support I received , from interviews to carpets , events and collaborations but excited to continue the story … started from scratch alone but with a million dreams and passion that brought me all the way here.
It hasn’t been easy at all but it always gets better , I can say I’ve been growing little by little here but before getting back to the media I had to work on myself , to be better as a person , an Artist and to be and give the best in what I do . These last two year I’ve been creating new things , mixing my passions , created art pieces and getting some opportunities I dreamed of that have made my heart full , 2 years where I can say I’m happy and proud of where I am now ! Have been getting everything ready to make a comeback and show everyone what I can do and why I difference myself with others .
I like to say my Art can be described as Unique , Authentic and Original , from makeup applications to content creation , visuals and concept comercial videos . I have a vision that I want people to connect with , a feeling where you can connect with my passion . I stoped thinking about time and worrying more about enjoying the process and the stories and moments that come along , with a more mature mind , responsibility and professionalism in what I do , I would love for you to get to know me and let me introduce you to my world , can’t wait for you to see this new version of me and what I have to offer to this community.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I learned that the biggest reward I can receive is the love and support of my followers, seeing them get inspired and beeing able to connect with them even as a content creator
How did you build your audience on social media?
As I didn’t start with the wanting of the following and visuality , it just happened, I could say always be unique and original with what you do , always see what is something no one has done or how can I make this different or better .
Be consistent , doesn’t mean to post x5 a day or week , it means to bring always something to the table , give different versions of yourself and remember to always be yourself !
