We were lucky to catch up with Dwight Thomas recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Dwight thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Thomas For Them Inc has being around since 2020. Our mission of not just providing hot meals, clothing, shoes, hygiene products and providing resources but to reunite the homeless community with their families.
Being a state licensed private investigator and agency owner with experience in human trafficking and missing children I decided to start another program called “Operation my Child” teaching parents and kids the importance of human trafficking awareness, missing children, benign episodes, runaways and amber alerts. It was important to bring awareness to this important cause by also conducting FREE ink fingerprinting for kids under 15 years old for parents to have their kids fingerprints with them. We use FBI prototype cards where we press their prints and the parents keep them in case of emergencies as an identifier.

Dwight, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Dwight Thomas I am the Founder and President of Thomas For Them Inc, a little bit of our story… I am a State Licensed Private Investigator, during the pandemic I started this nonprofit organization to reunite the homeless with their families while also conducting people search for them to be able to find their love ones.
Three years in and we’re still doing this exact thing, we spreaded out to also helping the community by doing free background checks, people search and free ink fingerprinting for young adults and kids (considering they’re not in the system) parents having to deal with runaways, human trafficking etc this is a great resource for parents to have fingerprints on file to give to local police or and FBI.
I also have a Private Investigative Agency by the name of I am Dwight Thomas Consulting that offers, Private Investigations, Security, Notary, Fingerprinting and Background checks.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Great question. I think just being me and my reputation as an Investigator and the work with the unsheltered community. I am not a community guy, I am a guy in the community so sometimes dealing with the politics of the nonprofit world I don’t play fair nor do I play at all. I’m ok with being in my own lane because the work I do comes from the heart and not for clicks or views. Purchases still come out of my pocket and the work still gets done because it’s needed.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I remember starting out in 2020, knowing exactly what I want to do but not knowing where to start. I’m not the social guy or the guy smiling through videos in pictures. Still to this day I’m not sure what I’m doing lol, I just know the man upstairs put it on my heart to do this and I’m just trying to show up every single day. It’s for the people.
