We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dwight Thomas a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Dwight, thanks for joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?

When I first started out it was only in the Private Investigations sector, eventually later bringing in security in various stages. Both positions fall simultaneously together under one rule which is being attentive to detail: I decided to of course stick with being a P.I while becoming a consultant in the busy, harsh world of being a security officer. I felt I could bring a lot more value with my experience in the field to be able to breakdown strengths and weaknesses of a company to better serve their needs with the right security company/guards that compliments their business. It all comes back to personality, that will match who you’re and your company.
I recently added a few services to compliment what we do while also becoming a one stop shop for our clients.
Adding Ink fingerprinting, Public (Mobile) Notary and Background Checks along with our Private Investigative services of Surveillance, Skip-trace and Interviews, it’s about continuing to provide solutions.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

My name is Dwight Thomas. My company is I.A.D.T Enterprise LLC but most know us as I Am Dwight Thomas Consulting. I am a South Florida native with a passion for many things but I would say, “helping “ is my thing. Rather it be in my community or in business. I have a passion for learning. If I’m not indulging in a good read (Mr. Two books a month), getting lost in a YouTube tutorial or trying to clear my mind because Mental Health is real.
Despite what people know about my work, i founded a nonprofit organization called Thomas For Them Inc where as a Private Detective we focus on reunifications between the homeless community and their family. I utilize all of my services to attempt to bring a family together or even the wanting to know if their family member is ok.

Everything I do evolves around what I do for a living, my craft and help. I’m a major Introvert so working alone, stealthy and on my own time makes sense. Being a business owner being an Introvert is very hard in a world of businesses and companies. Luckily for me it allows me elevate idk how not explain it, I turn super professional lol.

I consider myself a beast (not David Goggins) but I’m someone you want on your team. I take pride in what I know while continuing to grow. Im easily one of the hardest workers in any room which is part of the reason I DBA my company with my name to let you know exactly who and what you’re getting in me. My consulting company specializes in many things. Come to me in what you need me for.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

My mindset, my hustle, my needless to grow and continue to grow. My resilience. My attention to detail. My demeanor as most will say. I don’t just want to be known for one thing. I always aspire for more, especially if I feel like I’ve mastered something to be able add more categories to my resume. Being in security I’ve worked in many different levels of the field and what helped me most get certain positions was my experience in Investigating and learning different laws within the state to add more services to my company.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?

I consider my clients to be everyone. Everyone needs a Notary and everyone can use Background Checks. That’s a start for me. Now of course your target market can not be everyone so I tend to stick to the businesses especially those can benefit from multiple services. I try to find a nerd I can provide a company and remind them of my other services. It’s not really a strategy for me. I tend to try to assist anyone I can and with that word of mouth always attracts.
