Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Drumz & Rosez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Drumz thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I first started learning/pursuing music in 2011. I started off by selling my music on Craigslist. I had someone contact me & he told me he was interested in my production. His name was “BUSY B” & til this day he’s a great friend of mines. He started teaching me everything that he knew & he really helped me get to where I am today.
I feel if I would’ve had more patience with myself, it would’ve really benefited me. I was so in a rush to get where everyone else is at & I cheated myself in the long run.
Communication, & networking are some of the greatest assets ever. & that’s not just for music but for anyone’s career.
I also feel that the biggest obstacle that was in my way was definitely myself. Once I learned to stop focusing & worrying about everyone else & just stay in my own lane….I grew so much from that.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I go by the name “Drumz & Rosez”, I started getting involved/making music around 2011. I am a producer/audio engineer. As an audio engineer, basically I take songs/vocals & work magic on them & make them ready for radio or tv. Pretty much giving them the “professional sound”. I feel like my communication is a very strong trait about me. The ability to adapt to any conversation & actually communicate is big. A lot of people can’t hold conversations about multiple things & some minds are just one track.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I just really want to make my parents & my kids proud. Unfortunately neither of my parents are here, so that drives me to keep pushing. I want to be able to accept an award in honor of them. 🕊️ & my kids, man I just want them to not have to worry. Not saying they do worry right now, but it’s hard out here as an adult. I want them to enjoy being young & kids. I grew up early & I don’t want that for them.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One thing I learned is that not everyone has your best interests, & not everyone will do for you what you are willing to do for them. I had to learn this the hard way….unfortunately. Some of the closest people will act differently towards you as you grow & try to be better. You can’t let that stop you, you have to keep moving forward & you HAVE to keep growing. Do this for you
