We were lucky to catch up with Drea Leary recently and have shared our conversation below.
Drea, appreciate you joining us today. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
In the marketing and advertising industry, we’ve seen a trend in the past few years where company’s are siloing their services. In other words, companies are offering only one area of marketing services. In doing so, some are able to drive efficiencies and therefore become leaner. However, these changes come at the expense of the client. A successful marketing campaign requires multiple customer touchpoints and multiple verticals in order to be successful in customer acquisition. When a client can only utilize an agency to implement one vertical they must then go to multiple agencies to have a successful marketing campaign. Unfortunately, that creates more of a burden on the client, more opportunities for message disconnect and a lack of cohesiveness for not only the campaign, but the brand as a whole.
Our agency works differently by providing an all in one marketing plan, with one point of contact that has a handle on every aspect of a marketing campaign. This leaves time for the client to do what they do best – sell their products or services.

Drea, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I come from 25 years of marketing and advertising experience, and our team has over 60 combined years of experience. Our company is founded by people rooted in integrity, hard work, and an entrepreneurial spirit. Our drive to succeed extends beyond ourselves to our clients, making Induo Marketing the agency of choice for all businesses. I began in the media industry in 2004 and have garnered experience in media buying, media sales and account management. I have worked with clients like University of Utah, Challenger Schools, Maverik, America First Credit Union and Big O Tires.
I was part of the team behind “Members Come First” and developed the partnership with America First Credit Union and Utah Real Estate for their payment calculator – the first of its kind with Utah Real Estate. I also helped America First open their first ever non-Utah branches with huge success.
For 13 years, I helped grow Maverik from 100 stores to over 400 stores in multiple states and led the team that infused a social following of over 150,000 for the Maverik – Adventure’s First Stop Facebook and Instagram pages.
The Mazda stores in Murray and Sandy, UT have trusted me for almost 20 years to manage media, increase sales and navigate intensive co-op guidelines, ensuring quality marketing initiatives throughout the course of her tenure with Mazda.
I obtained her associates degree from Salt Lake Community College in the early 2000s.
With all this marketing experience, Induo Marketing has seen it all. We came from a time when TV was king and the post office helped deliver your message. Now we’re experts at targeted digital marketing, from social media ads on LinkedIn and Facebook to a Youtube videos and apps. We have the capabilities to provide:
Multi-platform, multi-medium marketing mixes
Full spectrum services, without the full spectrum price tag
Transparent performance reporting.
We are passionate about helping our clients succeed in finding qualified and diverse candidates.

We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
I met my business partner over 25 years ago, when we both started positions at a small television station in the Salt Lake market. It was my very first day on the job, in the admin department; she had been there a week, in the production department. We were young and aspiring to be great. While we had very different backgrounds, we found common ground in our work ethic, our capacity to work in teams and in our ability to move our respective departments toward success. We often “dreamed” about one day running a successful agency where our creative ideas, talent with clients and progressive approach to media would thrive.
Over time, we moved on to different positions and even different industries and after all that time, we had the opportunity to come together and live out that dream.
It’s been an amazing ride so far, with definite bumps in the road, but our different skill sets and combined ability to maintain and grow relationships has been the secret to our success.

Can you share one of your favorite marketing or sales stories?
Many years ago, I worked with a group of gyms owned by a single franchisee. While the gyms were successful, this franchisee felt it was time to step away from the franchise and build his own. His company was able to negotiate that, but suddenly we had the massive task of not only developing a new brand, but implementing it overnight – from the walls in the gym to the commercial on your screen. We developed a new brand over a short few months, and we successfully launched that new brand overnight on Black Friday and carried the new campaign through New Years.
The launch actually produced record new member sign ups in the locations’ history and the company since grew to multiple markets and states.
It’s so excited to see everything come together and drive the success of a client. That’s what drives me to be successful: seeing our clients succeed.
