We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dr. Tosha Anderson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Dr. Tosha, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Taking the risk to create Mothers Divinely Connected Incorporated as a nonprofit was a leap of faith—born from personal pain, fueled by passion, and guided by purpose. It meant stepping into the unknown to turn grief into growth, offering hope and healing to mothers in need. With no guarantees, only a vision, the organization was built to serve, uplift, and connect women through some of life’s hardest moments. All of which was birthed after losing my oldest son in 2020. Part of my healing would be through helping other Mothers through their journey of healing. Since all of our services are FREE, it makes the risk even greater because we depend on the aid of our donors, sponsors and partners. The risk however is so very worth it when you see hope return back to to the eyes of these Mothers. Every fundraiser, every flyer posted and every ask to donate tends to work out for our good. Which then affords us the opportunity to continue serving our community.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Thank you so much for the opportunity to share my story.
I’m the founder of Mothers Divinely Connected Incorporated, a nonprofit organization that was born from one of the most painful chapters of my life—the loss of my child. That grief shook me to my core, but it also awakened a deep calling to create a space for mothers like me—mothers navigating the unimaginable, searching for hope, healing, and connection. Starting this organization wasn’t just a professional step; it was a personal journey of transformation.
Mothers Divinely Connected offers a range of free services that wrap grieving mothers in compassion and community. We provide one-on-one counseling, group support sessions, emergency hope kits, grief workshops, and wellness activities—all designed to support women emotionally, spiritually, and mentally as they process their loss. Our events, like the Butterfly Sneaker Ball and Bloom & Brunch, bring women together to celebrate their strength, honor their pain, and continue their journey in full bloom.
What sets us apart is the heart behind everything we do. This isn’t just work for me—it’s ministry. It’s personal. Every resource, every hug, every conversation is rooted in lived experience and genuine care. We don’t just provide services—we create sacred spaces where women feel seen, heard, and supported without judgment.
I’m most proud of the lives we’ve touched and the community we’ve built. Seeing a mother smile again, laugh again, or simply say, “I didn’t feel alone today,” reminds me why this work matters so deeply.
If there’s one thing I want people to know about Mothers Divinely Connected, it’s that we are here with open arms—for every mother, every heart that needs healing. We are proof that even through the darkest storms, something beautiful can grow. And that growth, that light, is meant to be shared.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
What has truly helped me build my reputation within this space is authenticity and consistency. I didn’t enter this work to be seen—I stepped into it to serve. From the beginning, every interaction, every event, and every service offered through Mothers Divinely Connected has come from a place of real love, compassion, and personal understanding. People can feel when something is genuine, and that’s what they’ve connected to.
I also believe my willingness to be vulnerable and transparent about my own journey has opened doors for others to do the same. That trust has grown into a community—a safe space where healing is honored and supported. I’ve remained consistent in showing up, not just when it’s convenient, but especially when it’s hard. That level of commitment speaks volumes.
At the heart of it, my reputation has been built by leading with purpose, staying true to my mission, and valuing relationships over recognition. The work speaks for itself, and the lives we’ve been able to impact continue to be the greatest testimony.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
One of the most effective strategies for growing our clientele has been building genuine relationships through community engagement and word-of-mouth. At Mothers Divinely Connected, we focus on showing up where our audience already is—whether that’s at local events, support groups, or online spaces where women are seeking connection and healing. By being present, listening first, and offering support without pressure, we’ve earned trust organically.
We also prioritize storytelling—sharing real experiences, both my own and those of the women we serve. These authentic stories resonate deeply and create a ripple effect, encouraging others to reach out, share, or refer someone in need. Additionally, collaborating with other organizations and professionals who align with our mission has allowed us to expand our reach and impact, while staying rooted in purpose.
Ultimately, it’s not just about growing numbers—it’s about growing trust. When people feel seen, heard, and cared for, they naturally become part of your community and bring others along with them.
