We recently connected with Dr. Tamecca Rogers and have shared our conversation below.
Dr. Tamecca, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
“Ameka and Her Magical Crown” stands as a beacon of empowerment and inclusivity, reflecting my personal journey and commitment to fostering understanding and acceptance. My childhood experiences with racism, particularly regarding my hair texture and skin tone, have undoubtedly shaped my mission to empower youth to embrace their differences and celebrate diversity.
Through “Ameka and Her Magical Crown,” I’m not just telling a story; I’m imparting valuable lessons of empathy, compassion, and empowerment to children of all cultures and ages. The universal themes woven into the narrative resonate deeply, transcending cultural boundaries and touching hearts worldwide.
By sharing Ameka’s journey, I’m instilling in young viewers the importance of loving themselves just as they are while also teaching them to appreciate and respect the uniqueness of others. This message of acceptance and celebration of diversity is not only timely but also essential in building a more inclusive and compassionate society.
My dedication to creating meaningful content that sparks crucial conversations and promotes positive change is evident in every aspect of “Ameka and Her Magical Crown.” It serves as a powerful tool for fostering understanding, empathy, and unity among children, making it a truly impactful and meaningful project for myself and for society as a whole.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
About Myself:
I am Dr. Tamecca Rogers, a passionate advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion. My journey into the creative industry was sparked by a pivotal moment during the 2020 lockdown due to COVID-19. Watching the tragic murder of George Floyd with my then 9-year-old son prompted me to have “the talk” about racial injustice and how to navigate encounters with law enforcement. His response, encouraging me to share this vital conversation with others, ignited my path into creating impactful children’s books.
Getting Into the Industry:
Following my son’s suggestion, we began writing and publishing children’s books aimed at addressing important societal issues and promoting empathy and understanding. This initial step led us to further expand our reach and impact by venturing into creating the animated series “Ameka and Her Magical Crown.”
