We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dr. Tahseen Haque a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Tahseen, thanks for joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
My journey into event planning truly ignited in 2013, starting with family weddings. While I had experience coordinating student organization events, the intricate world of weddings was a completely different and captivating challenge. After moving back to Atlanta in 2017, I gained invaluable experience as a coordinator for a prominent South Asian wedding planner, continuing until I began pharmacy school in 2020.
It was during pharmacy school, while planning my own wedding in 2022, that the vision for Neeshat’s One Stop Shop For Brides really took shape. As a busy graduate student juggling full-time rotations and weekend exams, the sheer volume of vendor communication for various services became overwhelming. I found myself thinking, ‘Wouldn’t it be incredible if a planner could offer more than just coordination?’ This personal experience sparked the idea of a comprehensive service provider who could handle everything from intimate pre-wedding ceremony decorations like greenery backdrops and custom balloon garlands, to unique custom Procreate drawings for invitations and welcome signs, and even essential beauty services such as henna tattoos, gel extension nails, and professional saree draping.
Furthermore, in 2022, wedding content creation was a relatively new concept. Looking back, I deeply wished I had someone to capture those special, behind-the-scenes moments that often get missed by the couple during their busy wedding day. This realization led to the inclusion of our Social Media Content Creator service, where we strive to document those overlooked details, ensuring couples have instant access to their memories.
Neeshat Events was born from this desire to offer more to the Atlanta wedding industry than just traditional planning. I personally acquired many of these diverse skills while navigating my own wedding planning process and had to truly think outside the box to stay within budget and DIY various aspects of my Haldi, Mehndi, Sangeet, and even wedding reception. Now, I’m incredibly proud to offer these comprehensive services to my clients. While not every bride may need every service, my mission is to alleviate stress by bundling various offerings, providing support in every way I can.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hey readers! I’m Dr. Tahseen Haque, and I wear a couple of hats – by day, I’m a healthcare professional with a pharmacy doctorate, dedicated to helping patients. By night, and with equal passion, I’m the founder of Neeshat Events, a “One Stop Shop For Brides” in the vibrant world of South Asian weddings. My journey into this industry is a unique blend of lifelong passions and a problem-solving spirit.
My Journey: From Art to Entrepreneurship 🎨
I’ve always been an art kid at heart. Growing up, I loved to draw, paint, and create. This artistic inclination naturally led me to discover the intricate beauty of henna art, a craft deeply embedded in Bengali culture, which I grew up with. My fascination with henna quickly blossomed, leading me to start my own henna business. I began doing henna professionally while simultaneously working as a coordinator for a prominent South Asian wedding planner here in Atlanta. That initial experience coordinating weddings, which began with family events in 2013, truly ignited my passion for the industry. It was a completely different ball game from the student organization events I used to plan, and I was hooked.
Despite my artistic pursuits, I was always on the healthcare track, driven by a deep desire to help people. Achieving my pharmacy doctorate allows me to fulfill that calling in the medical field. But my entrepreneurial spirit and love for events didn’t wane. It was during pharmacy school, while planning my own wedding in 2022, that I truly recognized a significant gap in the market. As a busy grad student juggling rotations, exams, and wedding planning, the sheer hassle of coordinating countless vendors for different services became glaringly apparent. That personal experience sparked an idea: wouldn’t it be incredible if a planner could offer more than just planning and coordination?

Can you talk to us about how you funded your business?
Funding Neeshat Events has been an organic and self-sustaining journey, especially given the nature of the services I initially offered. For the planning and coordination aspects of the business, there wasn’t a significant need for initial startup capital. My primary investment was my expertise and time.
As I began to book wedding planning and coordination gigs, I strategically reinvested those earnings back into the business to expand our offerings. For instance, to properly launch our Social Media Content Creation service, I used the income from early planning projects to purchase essential equipment like a DJI Gimbal Osmo Pocket 3. Similarly, to build our decoration inventory, I started by renting out some of my own previous wedding decorations and backdrops. This generated initial capital that I then used to invest in acquiring more diverse decoration items.
Neeshat Events is still relatively new, barely one year old, but through the success of several wedding planning projects, I’ve been able to save up and make a significant investment in our newest venture: the Sip & Swirl Station. This mobile coffee cart, offering iced coffee, iced Thai tea, and iced matcha lattes, has been a huge hit! I’m incredibly excited to continue rolling it out as a unique add-on drink service for more and more future events, further diversifying our brand and offerings.

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Reflecting on my creative journey, especially with Neeshat Events and the ‘one-stop shop’ concept, there are certainly resources I wish I had known about earlier that would have smoothed the path, particularly during the intense period of planning my own wedding while in pharmacy school.
One major resource I wish I had known about earlier was the sheer potential and value of social media content creators for weddings. When I was getting married in 2022, it was a very nascent concept. I desperately needed someone to capture those candid, behind-the-scenes moments—the outfit details, the emotional exchanges, the intricate rituals, and the fun with family—that often get missed by the bride and groom in the whirlwind of the day. Having experienced that gap firsthand, it’s now a core service we offer at Neeshat Events, delivering real-time content within 24-48 hours so couples don’t have to wait months for memories. If I had known how vital this service would become, it would have been a game-changer for my own wedding and a clearer path for my business from the outset.
Beyond that, a deeper understanding of streamlining vendor management and contract consolidation would have been invaluable. When I was planning my wedding, the sheer volume of separate communications and contracts for everything from decor to beauty services was overwhelming. While I ultimately solved this problem by creating Neeshat’s One Stop Shop for Brides, bringing services like custom signage, decor rentals (Greenery Backdrops, Custom Balloon Garlands), and even beauty services (Henna Tattoos, Gel Extension Nails, Hair + Make-Up, Saree Draping) under one umbrella, a pre-existing resource or model for this comprehensive approach would have saved me immense stress and time.
Lastly, while I figured out creative ways to fund my expansion, like reinvesting profits from planning gigs into equipment like the DJI Gimbal Osmo Pocket 3 for content creation, and leveraging my existing wedding decor to buy more, having clearer guidance on strategic reinvestment for diversification would have been beneficial. My journey to launching the Sip & Swirl Station, for instance, was purely organic, fueled by savings from wedding planning gigs. Earlier insights into leveraging initial successes to systematically build out new, synergistic offerings like our Neeshat’s Café Services (Vintage Heart Cakes, Sip & Swirl Station) would have accelerated that growth.
Ultimately, these experiences, while challenging, became the bedrock of Neeshat Events’ mission to solve these very problems for our clients, but having known about these solutions earlier would have made my own journey a smoother ride.
