We recently connected with Dr. Sharmee Pratt and have shared our conversation below.
Dr. Sharmee, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
I believe one of the best client advice I have given was to teach them it is okay to say no and to learn to put themselves first. So many times people struggle with understanding that they matter in life. To help people to understand who they are outside of what they do is a challenge for many in life. I have had to help them to tear down blocks in their understanding that everyone else comes before them. When an individual has lived their life based on their function meaning what they do or have done most of their life it becomes difficult for them to understand who they are out side of how they function. Once I helped them to see that they have been living life based on learned behaviors and not out of loving and enjoying themselves it becomes easier for them to begin to change the pattern they were locked in. Once they begin to understand the mental concepts of not living life for everyone else and start to live life for themselves then add in everyone else they begin to eliminate the fact that they don’t matter. From that space many are free from depression, anxiety, thougths of loneliness and so much more.
Dr. Sharmee, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
So I am a certified life coach, spiritual advisor, international conference speaker, television host, #1Amazon Bestselling author and an advocate for mental health & wellness. After winning the battle of paranoid schizophrenia, bulimia, panic attacks, and depression. I now spend my time helping those around the world to be mentally free through natural and biblical research. I am the Founder of Sharmee’s Mind Management School, where I focus on a series of teachings and publications that deal with underlining behaviors and assist with regaining focus, I place a strong emphasis on emotional and mental wellness. I have built my trainings on the See Methodology, which stands for Strategies, Eliminates, Excuses. Because of my passion for people to be whole in their soul, mind, and body, I’ve written several books on the subject which include: Breaking Free from Within, Crushing the Olive Will Release the Oil, Who or What’s Persuading You, Stop Illegal Access, The Dangers of Interference, 21 Day Devotional From Saturation to Transformation and me Best Seller Jumpstart Your Mind and my newest book Embracing the Mind of Christ Everyday! I have also wrote several courses on Mental Freedom and my lastest book I am working on has to do with My Journey with Mental Illness. I love helping individuals to live a more fulfilled life while we are here on earth. We know that we all have to make an exit one day so why not learn tools and stratgies to help us to live a full life while we are still here! Unlocking individuals from a mental space is very rewarding seeing we have struggled with so much especially over the last two years. I also have a podcast called Striaght Talk with Dr. Sharmee Pratt where we discuss the issues of life and how to overcome them and an online magazine called Head & Soul which comes out every other month is also a way I am able to give hope. I must say although I love natural tools I find more joy helping individuals from a spiritual prespective. Giving hope to the hopeless is the core of what I do! Therefore, being able to enlight through these different outlets has been extermely rewarding for me as I hear the different testimonies.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
I can say without question that the most helpful thing for my success is my relationship I have with God. In my field I am able to present biblical tools and stratgies to those who have lost hope that others can’t do directly when you are dealing with the area of the mind. Although I have spoken to many who don’t have a personal relationship with God. It does’nt stop me from giving them biblical principles and tools that I know that work.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Starting your own business is not as easy as it sounds. You have to keep your focus even when you have times when it seems nothing is working for you especially in the coaching business. With so many coaches out now you have to figure out what will set you apart from others and that’s what I had to do. I had to sit and think what is it that the people are in need of today and how can I provide what is needed with so many around you doing the same thing. Being an individual who didn’t have a lot of capitol to start up I had to create different opportunites. Learing and researching how to do things for myself was one of the most difficult for me. Late nights and early mornings was my portion for a season because of the resreach I had to do to understand how to be better at what I was looking to do.
