Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dr. Shari Nasrabadi. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Dr. Shari, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about how you went about setting up your own practice and if you have any advice for professionals who might be considering starting their own?
Shahrzad Nasrabadi (SHARI) is a Certified Yoga Instructor (IYT200) and a Professional Yoga Therapist (IYT1000). Shari is a Certified Iyengar Yoga Instructor. Shari is certified in Integrative Yoga Therapy and has experience teaching a wide variety of students, including students recovering from breast cancer or living with other chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart diseases, Arthritis,… Shari first exposure to yoga was when she started doing scientific research about effects of yoga on mental health. In deed, her mother inspired her to start practicing Yoga in 1999 when she was 21 years old. Certainly, fitness has always been a part of Shari’s life.
In her particular public health background, Shari had been a leader of a health research project in Tehran University in 2002. The university research project was performed to inquire the Effects of Yoga on Mental Health in a group of people who were practicing yoga regularly. In fact, her health science background in public health has conducted her to incorporate elements of Iyengar, Hatha, Vinyasa, and Kundalini yoga as well as a holistic health approach to her teaching and practice. Actually, Shari began her teaching career in Tehran University in 2000. Before becoming a wife, she had persuaded her career as a public health educator and analytical manager at Beheshti University.
After moving to United States, she continued her study and instruction as a Yoga teacher. Her passion drove her to be a registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance (*RYT200) in 2004. Later, she continued her study and completed Integrative Yoga Therapy program in 2007, so she became a professional yoga therapist (IYT1000). Moreover, she was a member of international yoga therapy association.
Her work back ground background as a Director at RIO Sport & Health Club and as a Group Exercise Instructor at Lake Forest Sport & Health Club, YMCA in the Montgomery County, MD. gave her lots of good experience. After having her daughter, she appreciated the mental and physical balance that yoga brought to her life. Then, she thought yoga and pilates classes at NIH( National institute of Health), FINRA, WESTAT to the employees.
Shari truly enjoyed sharing her healing yoga sessions with others. In addition, Shari inspires creativity, imagination, and self-confidence in her class attendants. She desires to apply her holistic health approach to her style of teaching, so she can help her students to explore and develop their own abilities to heal the emotion, mind, and body. Her passion of learning about Chakras and energy balance directs her to create her special style of synchronized yoga movements with breathing while holding the Mudras to help yoga learners to open the chambers of their inner light.
Furthermore, she is a Doctor of Traditional Naturopathy. She believes that natural healing has a lower cost for every one and emphasis that healing yoga prevents and heals various physical, emotional, and mental disease. Dr. Shari’s naturopathy approach encourages her students to apply more herbal and natural remedies in order to lower the side effects of mainstream therapies. In fact, her passion for learning and teaching yoga and natural health stemmed from her public health and prevention background study as well as her positive experience of yoga that has had on her own life.
Finally, Dr. Shari loves to share her yoga skills and transfer her natural health approach to all of whom are passionate about their natural well-beings. She enjoys helping the people to experience the benefits of healing, growth, and transformation in their physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual being with regular practice of yoga and healthy lifestyle.

Let me introduce myself: I have been in health care for more than 20 years. I did research about effects of yoga on mental health in 1999.As well, I worked at NIH as yoga and pilates instructor. In addition, my book( answer to cancer) was published in 2015. I taught nutrition and yoga classes at college, schools to different age groups. Yes, i am passionate about what i do and helping people to heal themselves without any harm.
