Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dr Rita Renee. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Dr Rita, appreciate you joining us today. Can you walk us through some of the key steps that allowed you move beyond an idea and actually launch?
My journey to becoming an author and international speaker began as a quest to heal from the traumas of my childhood, experiences in church, and past relationships. It was a deeply personal mission that transformed into a professional calling, allowing me to reach and inspire others across the globe.
The seed of this idea was planted during a particularly reflective evening. I realized that sharing my story could not only foster my own healing but also help others facing similar challenges. The next day was filled with a mix of excitement and determination as I began sketching out what this new chapter of my life could look like.
Initially, the process was overwhelming. I had to figure out the logistics of writing a book and the intricacies of the speaking circuit. I spent countless hours researching successful authors and speakers, understanding what made their work resonate with audiences. I also reached out to mentors and attended workshops to hone my writing and public speaking skills.
Setting up the business side of things involved learning about publishing options, marketing strategies, and networking. I decided to self-publish to maintain control over my narrative and timeline. I crafted a detailed business plan, outlining my goals, target audience, and financial forecasts, which helped me stay organized and focused.
The following months were a whirlwind of writing, revising, and promoting. I launched my first book at a small local event, which led to invitations to speak at various venues. Each speaking engagement opened more doors, and soon, I was traveling not just across the United States but to Africa, Canada, and Paris.
Networking was crucial throughout this journey. I actively sought connections within international speaking circuits and participated in conferences and panels. Each interaction was an opportunity to learn and grow.
Reflecting on this journey, it’s clear that passion fueled by a desire to heal and help others was the driving force. It was not just about launching a business; it was about starting a movement. Each step, from ideation to execution, was guided by the goal to empower and uplift, transforming my past pains into lessons of resilience and hope.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am Dr. Rita Renee, a devoted Christian, wife, mother of five, and a survivor turned advocate and healer. My journey into becoming an author and international speaker was born out of my own experiences of overcoming childhood, church, and relationship traumas. These challenges not only shaped my resilience but also ignited my passion to empower others through my story.
After decades of navigating the complex terrains of healing and self-discovery, I embraced my calling to share my insights and lessons learned. I ventured into authorship and international speaking to reach a wider audience, offering hope and practical strategies for transformation. My speaking engagements have taken me across continents—from Africa to Europe, and throughout North America, allowing me to connect with diverse audiences who seek guidance and inspiration.
My services include a range of empowering workshops, mentorship programs, and speaking engagements. I specialize in helping women “come off mute” by moving from the shadows and sidelines to the forefront of their own stories. Through my books, workshops, and speeches, I guide individuals on how to articulate their experiences authentically and confidently. My approach is holistic, focusing not just on storytelling but on the entire journey from penning thoughts to publishing them.
What sets me apart is my deep commitment to authenticity and my focus on creating safe spaces for women to express themselves without fear or apology. My work is about transforming pain into power by providing tools that facilitate both personal growth and professional development.
I am most proud of my ability to turn my past into a powerful narrative that not only heals me but also inspires and assists others. I am also proud of the platforms I’ve created, which include both online and in-person opportunities for learning and growth. These platforms serve as launchpads for those I mentor, helping them to write their stories, speak their truths, and impact the world.
For potential clients, followers, and fans, I want you to know that my brand is built on the foundation of resilience, empowerment, and faith. It’s about more than just overcoming; it’s about thriving and helping others do the same. Whether through my books, speeches, or workshops, my goal is to equip you with the knowledge and courage to rewrite your narrative and step into your power, fully and unapologetically.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Yes, a specific goal drives my journey: empowering individuals, especially women, to find their voice and reclaim their power. This goal stems from my experiences overcoming significant personal and societal challenges. I aim to inspire and facilitate healing and growth in others by sharing the tools and strategies that helped me navigate my path to resilience and success.
My mission is to ensure that no one feels silenced or sidelined because of their past or present circumstances. By encouraging others to tell their authentic stories, I help them heal and empower them to become advocates for their own lives and others who may be facing similar struggles. This work is not just about individual healing; it’s about creating a ripple effect that transforms communities and society.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Certainly, one of the most pivotal moments in my career came when I decided to relocate to a state where I had no prior connections, networks, or safety nets—a move that was both intimidating and exhilarating. This decision was driven by my desire to expand my reach and impact, but it also meant starting from scratch in a completely new environment.
Upon arriving in my new home, I found myself in unfamiliar territory without the established support systems I had elsewhere. It was daunting to navigate this new landscape, but I was determined to build my brand and forge new connections. I started by attending local events, engaging with community leaders, and participating in various networking groups. Each interaction, no matter how small, was a step toward building a new foundation in this unfamiliar place.
One of the most significant breakthroughs came from a local business conference where I was invited to speak. I saw this as an opportunity not just to share my story but to demonstrate the value I could bring to the community. The speech was well-received, and it opened doors to more speaking engagements, workshops, and even collaborations with local entrepreneurs and other speakers.
This experience taught me the power of resilience and the importance of being proactive. It wasn’t easy to start over, but the process of building connections from the ground up was incredibly rewarding. It reinforced my belief that with persistence and faith, it’s possible to overcome any obstacle and make a significant impact, no matter where you are.
