We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dr. Peace Uche [aka Doc Peace]. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dr. Peace below.
Dr. Peace, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I first became aware of my desire to seek a career in the arts and creative fields when I was only 12 years old. I had always been attracted to artistic expression as a child of Nigerian descent growing up in a Southern Californian household. I wrote my first book, “The Midnight Show,” which was a motivational rhyme, at that early age. But I set that dream aside because my family told me “you can’t make money in art” in an effort to get me ready for the harsh “reality” of the world. See, in my Nigerian household, schooling was always prioritized, and nothing was permitted to “distract” me from getting a better education to establish a solid standing in American society.
It wasn’t until almost 20 years later, in 2018, that I reactivated the spoken word artist within me. I started performing spoken word, and it became the bridge that enabled me to move from my secure corporate life as a pharmacist to the exciting (and sometimes terrifying) world of entrepreneurship. I even released my 12-year-old self’s inspirational picture book, which became a best-seller two decades later!
The spoken word has always grounded me, and I’ve always felt compelled to do more with this talent. I discovered a method to combine my love for spoken word with my desire to empower and inspire others as I embraced my artistic side.
I began to use my abilities to support others in realizing their full potential and stepping into their own light. And went on to work with brands, projects, and events to create custom pieces for their marketing campaigns, community-building, and profit-generation strategies.
Looking back, I realize that my journey began with that young girl who had a goal and a desire to express herself creatively. Despite my family’s concerns and expectations, I eventually found my way back to my artistic origins, motivated by my love of spoken word and my desire to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
Dr. Peace, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
The NFT community is rapidly expanding, and as more people become aware of blockchain technology, it’s more crucial than ever to comprehend the allure of this still-emerging industry and why it’s here to stay.
A few explanations will be shared first. The origin version of the internet, known as Web 1.0, was read-only. When social media first emerged in Web 2.0, users could read and post but did not own the content they contributed to these platforms. We are currently in the early phases of Web 3.0, where users can use blockchain technology to read, create, and own their content.
Non-fungible tokens (NFTs), the metaverse (a virtual platform where people from all over the world can interact), and other decentralized systems with no central authority are examples of blockchain technology. Instead, the people who use and own the assets that make up these networks are in charge of running them.
For instance, many people find great satisfaction in NFTs because of the respect and acknowledgment their creative expression has earned them. Since the NFT community is still young, assistance is appreciated in an all-hands-on-deck manner as fresh projects, platforms, and concepts that showcase incredible creativity and industry knowledge continue to arise.
By eliminating “middle men” and pointless steps that slow down the current system, NFTs streamline procedures and increase efficiencies. NFTs give fresh life to the idea of ending the stereotype of the “starving artist” by offering a way to directly support artists. NFTs also permit ongoing payments on intellectual property. The “one-and-done” selling paradigm is changing because NFTs offer perpetual dividends. Finally, NFTs cultivate community empowerment and growth as many people use them in collaboration with social good and functional benefits (often referred to as “utility”) to actually make a difference for the causes they support.
In this environment, collaborations are greatly valued and rewarded. In contrast to Web 2, where only those with sizable followings could succeed, Web 3 enables benefits to be realized through collaboration and aligned partnerships. These are just a few of the reasons given for why blockchain technology is here to stay.
I developed the Pivot To NFTs program to help service providers mindfully define how to show up for the web3 community, implement action steps to establish a presence in the space, navigate the blockchain, mint service-based NFTs on the blockchain, learn how to monetize with additional revenue streams, and tell the world about those unique services without undue self-sabotage and overwhelm.
I used to actually believe I owned my own content that I posted to socials. It wasn’t until my account got deleted and I lost all of my photos and videos I’d so carefully curated that I realized I didn’t own any of it. It was somebody else’s content as soon as I uploaded it.
Then I discovered the blockchain…
This was proof of ownership. Utilizing this technology is life-changing and the possibilities are endless. It’s not simply for artists and collectors, but for service-providers as well. I want this last part to sink in here… if you have a service you provide to the world, you can [and very well should] pivot that service to serve the web3 community and integrate blockchain technology.
Why?
Your future self will thank you for getting Into the web3 space now. Not later. Now. Not next week. But now.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
First of all, there is no such thing as a “non-creative”. I believe that we are all born Genuine Original Loving Dreamers (GOLD), but as we grow older we may forget components that make us GOLD. This simply indicates the need to reactivate your creative expression. How can the creative process be reactivated?
1) Allow yourself to be creative
2) Make a decision.
3) Set a goal for yourself and push yourself to achieve it.
4) Permitting yourself to alter the model
As an owner of a creative company, you begin to understand the value of developing your brand through interesting and compelling content. However, given the abundance of online material, it can be difficult to stand out and draw in your intended audience. The power of storytelling is the key to producing content that genuinely connects with your audience. And it’s essential to explore how you can use the craft of storytelling to establish your identity and engage your audience more deeply.
People have been using stories to entertain, educate, and inspire one another for centuries. From the oral practice of passing down stories from generation to generation to the contemporary major motion pictures that entertain audiences all over the world, storytelling has the power to bring people together and create emotional connections. Storytelling runs in my family as an American-Nigerian, and I share my stories in the form of spoken word poetry.
Your story can be told in countless different methods. And there is an abundance of methods to distribute it. I’ve come to understand that many people struggle to clearly express their message and identify platforms that will allow them to reach a wide audience. This is what inspired me to develop “Flow GOLD” in our Empowerment Hub so that we can assist our community in sharing their stories and elevating their voices on various platforms. Think coaching portal meets a mastermind for networking. Sharing your truth has never been easier!
