Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dr. Melissa Carver. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Dr. Melissa, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you recount a time when the advice you provided to a client was really spot on? (Please note this response is for education/entertainment purposes only and shouldn’t be construed as advice for the reader)
The best advice that I can give anyone is to prioritize self awareness, mindfulness. The thoughts we have consciously and unconsciously affect our happiness, success, and health of our relationships.
Rerouting the mind to go beyond the known into the stage of new perspectives has a powerful ripple effect. The time put in can feel or appear selfish but in reality it is the opposite.
From the time we are born others are visualizing your future. Labels are attached to your name as truth without any consideration into what your ideas may be. This isn’t just from parents. Teachers, religious leaders, coaches, and peers all seem to want to shape us to fit their mold.
Do you remember those glimpses of you? Your true, authentic self? Questioning how our mind works and where our beliefs come from is a great starting point.

Dr. Melissa, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My business offers a variety of services. Outside of services we are also working on several soon to be released projects. My private clients are located all across the US. I see them virtually via Zoom providing a wide range of hours, six days a week to accommodate all time zones. I enjoy watching individuals and couples evolve on such an intimate level. It is one of the most satisfying aspects out of the array of everything I do. We have two events per year, the three day Rejuvenation Retreat and two day Meditation Retreat. The Meditation Retreat is self explanatory. Our Rejuvenation Retreat is a luxury meets nature experience. From massage, kayaking, mindfulness workshops, and world renowned speakers and teachers we work hard to provide a truly unique experience year after year. The meditation retreat is new but the rejuvenation retreat has gained multiple loyal guests. When people are excited to continue to join us year after year, that is the greatest compliment they could give myself and the team.
I am the author of ‘Who the Hell Told You That’. This book is a guide to help the reader ask the right questions in deprogramming and unlearning the thoughts that are not beneficial to their mind, body, soul, and block the manifestations they desire. Readers can acquire the book in several locations but I prefer they order directly from my website so that I can sign it for them. drmelissacarver.com
One of our projects in progress is an online Aspiring Authors Summit. We have several authors and individuals in other areas of the business to help individuals navigate the writing, publishing, and marketing process. This will be available for download indefinitely for easy access and learning on their terms.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Authenticity and vulnerability. Those who follow me on social media, have seen me speak at events, and my private clients all know that I am not afraid to share my story. I think people appreciate my raw vocabulary and truth. It feels like society is exhausted by leaders, politicians, CEOs, business owners, and religious leaders that lack the ability to be real. I just hope that I can in some small way fill that void. While I can not change the people who fear exposing their truth, I can strive to be what I want to see more of in our world. I aim to inspire others to do the same, regardless of their professional or personal status.
Have you ever had to pivot?
I’ve been on pivot my entire life. I grew up in a rough neighborhood to say the least. That environment alone will teach you to stay ready to navigate in the safest way possible. There is never a solid answer for what that is. It is ever changing depending on the mood of the scene. At sixteen years old I had my first child. Knowing that I could not raise him where I was living, I had to move. Leaving the people I knew, I was close to, was not easy but an adjustment that had to be done. At nineteen I purchased my first home. The first house that I had ever lived in. Just a few short years later I needed more income to continue this lifestyle. I walked into a strip club with the intention of being there for a short time. Fifteen years later I walked out forever with my PhD, a new career, and priceless lessons.
Now I am a mother of three. With a thirteen year difference between the first and second child I have had children under my roof for a long time. They are and have always been my top priority. Every decision has been made with their best interest at heart. My husband and I have been dedicated to raising them without sitters and being as available for them as we possibly can. Any parent knows that is the equivalent to living on a spindle. They are my greatest achievement. I am intensely grateful to be their mom and to have the lifestyle that allows me to be with them so much.
