We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dr. Marcia Credle. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dr. Marcia below.
Dr. Marcia, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
I was running late for work and as I was entering the building, I spoke to a colleague and asked how she was doing. I really expected her to say that she was doing fine. However, she said, “I’m not doing well.” Even though I was running late, I knew I had to stop and talk to her. We talked and discussed ways I might be able to help her. After we talked, we also prayed together and I asked her if I could send some words of encouragement via email to her later. She said yes, and I started sending her encouragement 2-3 times a week. She soon asked me if she could share them with others and it grew from there. I knew this was something I had to do because I could see in her eyes, and hear in her voice that she needed support. I eventually used the snippets to write my first book. I knew it would work because many other women found comfort, guidance, and direction in the words I shared. I offered a unique approach because my books really speak to every day situations with suggestions for solving issues. When I coach women, I never tell them what to do, I help them develop strategies to get from their comfort zone to their discovery zone.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am also an educator and have always found it easy to talk to people and provide support in a non-judgmental way. I have journaled for a long time and it was a natural progression to write a book. After writing my first book, more people came to me for assistance, so I decided to become a certified life coach. I wanted to get certified so I could provide informed support for my clients. I provide authentic, non-judgmental support to my clients. I pride myself on guiding them to solve their own concerns or issues. I sometimes ask hard questions, but my clients appreciate that I have them look at situations from a different perspective. I offer my books, motivational t-shirts and accessories and have recently added greeting cards to my brand. I am very proud of all of my products because they speak to what women are dealing with daily.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
My initial audience was comprised of family and close friends. However, I soon realized that if I wanted to reach more people I would have to broaden my following. I stepped out of my own comfort zone and started following other business owners. I wanted to see what they were doing and also learn from them. In doing so, I found a mentor/coach for myself. The advice that I would give to someone just starting to build their social media presence is to be consistent. Be sure to think about how you want to represent your brand every time you post. Be sure to use your brand colors, get some professional pictures taken, and be patient – what is for you is for you!

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think being honest, open, and authentic is what helped me build my reputation within my market. Every time I speak or produce a product, my followers are going to get the very best version of me.
