We were lucky to catch up with Dr. Lashonda Wofford recently and have shared our conversation below.
Dr. Lashonda , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Was there an experience or lesson you learned at a previous job that’s benefited your career afterwards?
The most important lesson learned at my prior job was God will use people and unfavorable circumstances to launch you into your purpose.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a WOG, wife, a mother, a sister, a grandmother, a friend, and a proven CEO. I have founded and built several successful organizations, including an affirmation collection, L&S Consulting Group, Wofford & Williams Inc. DBA Akins Helping Hands and All Things Coaching. I am a community advocate and personal development partner who encourages all to bet on themselves no matter what life throws their way through my All Bets on Me platform on Facebook.
I got started in the Home Care industry after having to suddenly becoming a full time caregiver to my first husband in my early twenties. It wasn’t easy but caring for him 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year for 7.5 years is where God equipped me for one of my purposes. I started my business in 2015 and it has and still serves as a blessing to so many families.
I started my journey as an author in May of 2020 as God released me to share a little bit of my story in a best selling anthology Blessed Not Broken Vol.1 Journey to finding Purpose in Marriage, Motherhood and Entrepreneurship as a CEO Wife. I went on to share more of my story in my solo book Pain Equals Purpose. As I trusted God and followed his direction on how much to share my mind was blown away with how many people were able to receive breakthrough after breakthrough just from reading my story. I still get chills thinking about it. I have written in a few more anthologies as well. I love being a author because REAL PEOPLE need REAL PEOPLE that are willing to share their own personal struggles to help give hope to others that if God did it for me, he can certainly do it for them.
I believe that everything we as humans go through is for someone else. We are not supposed to sit on the things we have gone through in life. once God brings us through we are to reach back from the place of wholeness, healed and victorious to pull others out.
I started my Life Coaching business about 2 years ago. I spent an entire year developing myself personally and professionally to that I was ready to help other learn to live again. Live outside of the pain that life has caused. My instructor and mentor Dr. Frances Ann Bailey was a very important part of this journey. Not only am a a Nationally and Internationally Accredited life Coach but I am also an Instructor. It bring me great pleasure being able to develop other leaders to help rebuild God’s people.
I am most proud of just being able to be used by God for such greatness. The thing that I want people to know about me is that I am a PurposePusher. My brand represents new beginnings. No matter what hand of cards you’ve been dealt in life, you have the power to change the hand and WIN. You can live a purposeful and meaningful life after whatever has happened.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Through various pains and struggles throughout my life I’ve had to tap into my resilience. Just knowing that everything that looked bad God was able to turn it around for my good and that what gave me the power to push through. I can look back at every mountain I faced and see why it hade to happen and how God brought me out. From becoming a mother at the age of 17, from becoming a widow at 27. From getting remarried to a wonderful man and sharing and building a beautiful life and building a business empire. Creating generational wealth for our children and grandchildren for generations to come. It’s all God and we’re forever grateful.
If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
I would choose the same profession because it’s all a part of God’s plan. I can not help but appreciate my journey. The good, bad and the ugly.
