Dr. Lara, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.

Launching Dr. Lara Devgan Scientific Beauty was undoubtedly the largest risk I’ve ever taken in my already-established career as a board-certified plastic surgeon. Expanding on my medical expertise, I created my brand in order to vertically integrate my surgical practice with my skincare line to provide users with clinically proven ingredients.

I was well aware of the risks involved. The skincare market is fiercely oversaturated, a turbulent sea of products promising miracles to countless consumers but often falling short. The skincare industry was dominated by established giants, with enormous marketing budgets and global recognition. Competing with them seemed like David taking on Goliath, but I couldn’t ignore my belief in the value a best-in-class medical-grade skincare line could provide.

The first step was assembling a team of experts who shared my vision. Together, we carefully crafted each product, ensuring they contained clinically proven, highly efficacious ingredients, were free from harmful additives, and could genuinely enhance skin health. Our research and development phase was meticulous, demanding countless late nights and lengthy trial runs.

The day of our launch was a mix of excitement and anxiety. The competition was fierce, and there were no guarantees of success. Yet, as I watched my surgical practice patients eagerly purchase my products, I felt a surge of pride and accomplishment. I had taken a monumental risk, and it was paying off.

Over the years, Dr. Lara Devgan Scientific Beauty has steadily grown. Word of mouth from my satisfied patients, positive reviews, and real client results have all led to being featured in Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, The New York Times, Forbes, and many more. My now award-winning and editor-approved skincare line has been praised for integrating luxury and scientifically backed ingredients that are designed to provide users with real results.

While the journey has been arduous, it’s been a risk that has transformed my career and allowed me to make a meaningful impact in the skincare industry.

Dr. Lara, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My background is deeply rooted in academia and medicine. I hold degrees from esteemed institutions like Yale University, Johns Hopkins Medical School, and Columbia/New York Presbyterian Hospital. These formative experiences shaped my dedication to plastic and reconstructive surgery, with a particular focus on cosmetic procedures for the face and body, as well as reconstructive surgery.

Beyond my clinical practice, I am the founder and CEO of Dr. Devgan Scientific Beauty, a luxury medical-grade skincare line. My products are meticulously formulated to address various skin concerns and deliver visible results. I firmly believe that beauty is in the details, and my skincare line reflects this philosophy, offering carefully curated solutions for those who seek the very best for their skin.

What sets me apart is my unwavering commitment to excellence and the artistry that I bring to every aspect of my work. I’ve been recognized as a top plastic surgeon in New York and have received accolades for my contributions to the field. Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?

The genuine desire to help people. This drives all that I do.

If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?

Absolutely not. Plastic surgery is the perfect blend of art and anatomy and resonates with all of my interests and skills.
