Alright, Dr. Kristy thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea for WORxK Solutions came from my own experiences navigating career transitions and mentoring others in healthcare and higher education. I saw firsthand how many people struggled to connect the dots in their professional journeys—whether it was creating a resume that truly reflected their value, preparing for interviews with confidence, or building a personal brand that opened doors. Most services out there seemed transactional, offering only piecemeal solutions like a resume or cover letter, but not addressing the bigger picture of career growth.
I wanted WORxK Solutions to be the prescription for change—a comprehensive, holistic approach to career coaching. At WORxK Solutions, we focus on career branding as the foundation. It’s not just about helping clients find a job; it’s about transforming how they present themselves professionally and aligning their careers with their unique values, skills, and goals. Our packages include everything from branding to interview prep because we understand that success comes from a cohesive strategy, not isolated fixes.
What excited me most was the chance to redefine how people view career coaching—not as a one-off service, but as a journey of transformation. I knew this would work because people crave authenticity and clarity in how they present themselves to the world, and there weren’t many services offering this kind of holistic, client-focused experience. That belief and passion have driven our success and continue to inspire our work.
Dr. Kristy, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My journey into this field began in healthcare and higher education, where I mentored students and guided professionals to achieve their goals. Along the way, I realized that the missing link for many was a cohesive strategy to connect their skills, values, and goals into a compelling professional brand. That realization inspired me to build WORxK Solutions, a career coaching and consulting business dedicated to providing holistic, transformative services.
At WORxK Solutions, we offer Career and Executive Coaching Services, Organizational Resiliency Support, Educational Curriculum Consulting, and DEIA & Career Development Workshops. In addition to these services, we’re proud to organize strategic events and conferences. This year, we’re thrilled to present the Rx for Career Success Summit this April. This 2-day event will become our signature summit, designed to empower professionals with actionable strategies to excel in their careers. As we build momentum for this summit, I’m also hosting the Rx for Career Success Podcast, where I share practical tips to help viewers enhance their job search strategies and grow in their careers.
What sets us apart is our emphasis on holistic career branding. We don’t just create a resume or prep for an interview; we empower our clients to craft a cohesive professional story that reflects their unique skills, values, and aspirations. Our approach ensures that every individual we work with is equipped to lead, thrive, and make a meaningful impact in their career.
I’m most proud of the new books we’re launching, including The 90-Day Career Mindset Success Journal for Women in Social Impact, which is designed to empower women who have made a commitment to making a difference in the lives of others. I’m thrilled to be co-authoring this book with LaShaunda L. Smith, a licensed professional counselor in Mississippi, who brings invaluable expertise in mental health and personal development. Additionally, later this year, I’ll be releasing a deeply personal book about my own journey, sharing insights and experiences that have shaped who I am today.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
One story that stands out is from the early days of building WORxK Solutions. When I first started, the challenges felt immense, and the responsibility of running the business alone was daunting. As a solopreneur, I had to juggle every role—developing services, managing operations, building a brand, and connecting with clients. Financially, I had to be strategic, stretching resources as far as they could go and prioritizing investments that would build a strong foundation for the business. There were moments when I felt overwhelmed and questioned whether my vision would truly resonate, but I kept pushing forward, driven by a deep belief in the value I could bring.
Another defining moment in my journey was when I decided to compete in a beauty pageant. It might seem unrelated, but stepping into that arena was a test of confidence, resilience, and self-belief. I wasn’t just competing for a crown—I was challenging myself to step outside my comfort zone and embrace my authenticity in a public way. That experience helped me realize that resilience isn’t just about overcoming challenges but also about embracing opportunities that stretch and grow you in unexpected ways.
Both of these experiences reinforced the importance of perseverance and self-belief. They remind me to show up, even when the odds feel stacked against me, and to inspire others to do the same in their careers and lives.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I believe the key to building my reputation within my market has been a combination of authenticity, a client-centered approach, and consistently delivering value. From the beginning, I focused on understanding the unique needs of my clients and providing solutions that went beyond surface-level fixes. Instead of just offering transactional services like resumes or interview prep, I introduced a holistic approach to career branding, helping individuals align their personal and professional identities to truly stand out.
Another critical factor has been maintaining an active presence in my field through speaking engagements, workshops, and collaborations. For example, hosting events like our Rx for Career Success Summit has been a major milestone for WORxK Solutions. This year, we’re excited to present the summit this April, which will become our signature event. The 2-day summit is specifically designed to equip professionals with actionable strategies to excel in their careers. We have 18 incredible speakers lined up, each bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise to help our attendees unlock their full potential and accelerate their career growth.
As we continue to build momentum for this event, I’m also hosting the Rx for Career Success Podcast, where I share practical tips and expert advice on how to enhance job search strategies, overcome career obstacles, and unlock professional potential.
Alongside the summit, we’ve also launched the WORxK Global News Magazine, a key initiative that positions WORxK Solutions as a thought leader in career and organizational resiliency. The magazine serves as a dynamic platform where we feature in-depth articles, success stories, and resources on career development, leadership strategies, global trends, and workplace resilience.
Finally, I’ve worked hard to ensure that the values of integrity, empathy, and excellence are at the heart of everything we do. These qualities resonate with clients and partners alike, allowing us to build strong, lasting relationships within the industry.
