We recently connected with Dr. Kemia Zeinali and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Dr. Kemia thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Setting up an independent practice is a daunting endeavor. Can you talk to us about what it was like for you – what were some of the main steps, challenges, etc.
When creating Dreamhouse Dental, I had to search for a location that was centrally located and convenient for both clients and staff. The design was very important to me, and I wanted to create something that was unique and creative, focusing on excellent patient experience. If I could do something differently, I would open the office sooner. Instead of waiting for everything to be perfect, I should have launched right into the business and worried about the finer details at a later time. For those looking to start their own practice, I would recommend they be flexible to change and don’t be hard on themselves. Things won’t be perfect when you first start, and that’s okay.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started out by volunteering at a local dental clinic in San Diego and saw that underserved communities weren’t getting the dental care that they needed. This sparked an interest in dentistry within me, and I went on to attend Roseman Dental School in Utah to become a dentist. I felt inspired to help others and provide help to those in need, and created my practice, Dreamhouse Dental, in 2023. My goal is to provide care to all communities, whether well-served or underserved, and offer a welcoming environment to children who experience dental fear and anxiety.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Our work and commitment to the community we serve and the atmosphere of our office have been a game changer. We host an annual toy drive event around the holidays so every child has a chance to receive a special gift, holiday events such as our Thanksgiving meal giveaway, and accept a wide range of insurance so that any community, whether well-served or underserved, has a fair shot of receiving the dental care they deserve. At Dreamhouse Dental, we designed our office to be inviting and offer a safe space for children to receive dental care in a stress-free environment. With bright-colored rooms, games to play, interactive learning stations, and character days, we aim to make dental visits fun and empower children to love their smiles!
If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
I would choose the same profession in a heartbeat. It is my passion to help others, especially children from underserved communities, and make a lasting impact on their view of the dentist and their smiles. It’s important to me that children enjoy going to the dentist and can have a fun and happy experience, all while learning how to practice preventative oral care and hygiene.
