Hi Dr. kemia, thanks for joining us today. Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?
I enjoy being a business owner because it allows me to pursue my passions and turn my ideas into reality. I find fulfillment in creating something of value and seeing the positive impact it has on others. The freedom to make my own decisions and shape my own path is incredibly rewarding. While there are challenges like stress and long hours, the satisfaction of achieving my goals and growing my business makes it all worthwhile. Being a business owner gives me a sense of purpose and the opportunity to constantly learn and grow.
Dr. kemia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I own a children’s dental office in Los Angeles, and what sets up apart is our commitment to the overall well-being of children. We strive to create a positive association with health care and emphasize the importance of taking care of oneself.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I was really unhappy working as an associate doctor. I wasn’t able to utilize my creativity or make decisions. However, I had invested a considerable amount of time in my education and truly enjoyed working with children. I ultimately made the difficult decision to open my own practice, despite the fear it entailed. Now, I am able to practice in a way that I find fulfilling.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I had to let go of the belief that things would get easier once I solved my current problems, because I realized that more challenges are always going to come up. I realized I had to change the way I manage stress and uncertainty as those are a constant part of life.
