We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dr. Katrina Esau. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dr. Katrina below.
Alright, Dr. Katrina thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We believe kindness is contagious and so we’d love for you to share with us and our audience about the kindest thing anyone has ever done for you?
The kindest thing anyone has ever done for me is invest their time, energy, and skill in my vision. I don’t remember the discussion post, but it was within a Facebook group geared toward introverted entrepreneurs getting visibility. The young lady reached out to me via direct message, and we set up time to connect and build a relationship. She is a copy editor and I had just launched my first book sharing my story of infidelity in my marriage. I was looking to expand the content from my book into courses and other viable workshops. I was about 3 months into my business and was unsure where to start leveraging my story to reach my target audience. We would have weekly conversations that turned into brainstorming sessions that ultimately led to “Let me help you.”
I would send her my pre-recorded videos or content ideas that I’d use for social media, and she would transform them into copy that captured the essence of my heart and my vision. She helped me to develop copy that connected with my audience in a very vulnerable way. I was just starting out and wasn’t making enough money to pay her and I would often bring it up because I wasn’t used to people serving me from a pure place with no intent to get a paycheck. Let’s be real, there are not many people out here willing to help others without a dollar being connected to it. Finally, one day she said, “Please let me help you. It’s not about the money. You are helping me more than you will ever know.” She hadn’t shared her personal story with me at that time, so I didn’t quite know the depths of how I was helping her. I just knew I wanted to compensate her for her knowledge and craft. She was the first person to help me in this way in my business. It taught me that there are people out there who believe so much in what you do that they will invest their time and talent into your vision to help others. I had done it for others for years, I had even prayed for it, but when it showed up, I was hesitant to receive it. Sometimes, it’s hard for givers to receive. One of my previous mentors once said it is pride that keeps one from receiving, which is something I never want to walk in. I stopped bringing up the money and allowed her to be the blessing that she was intended to be.
I could never put a price tag on the value of her time and what it meant to me at that moment. Having been fearful of going into business for years to finally jumping and moving into purpose was daunting. Having her support at that moment in my life was pivotal and has certainly contributed to building my faith when it came to trusting God to send the resources necessary to fulfill His vision for my life.

Dr. Katrina, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am Dr. Katrina Eau, the midwife for the brokenhearted. I am the President and CEO of KE3 Worldwide Enterprises, LLC, the founder of W.H.O.L.E. (Wives Healing Openly Leaving Him Exalted)™, and the creator of The W.H.O.L.E. Academy, which offers programming that cultivates healing and forgiveness. I am also a Certified Christian Life Coach that helps kingdom-minded women gain the spiritual and mental tools that they need to HEAL from the trauma and hurt of infidelity; so they can birth their way into purpose!
I am a dynamic speaker known for my wit and transparency, inspiring hope and provoking women to Normalize Healing Openly™. My ministry was birthed after coming face to face with infidelity in my own marriage, having bouts of hopelessness, and feeling alone in my marital journey. My mission in life is to help other women walk out their healing process so, they can change the trajectory of their families and positively impact their communities.
I am an international best-selling author. It was my pain that led me into this business and the life coaching industry. It started with my first book, The Pain of Infidelity Births Purpose where I share my story and experience with other women in a real, raw, and relatable way to bring hope, encouragement, and healing to them whether they are entering in, in the midst of, or they walked away from a season of trauma in their marriage. Coupled with The Blueprint to Becoming Whole, which is the accompanying journal with activities, affirmations, and encouragement. These led to the publishing of Woman, Be Made Whole, a 21-Day Devotional that helps women on their journey to healing from within. I am the co-author of Called to Intercede: Volume One, where I share on the topic of A Divine Gap Stander; Wellness for Winners, where I talk about the 7 minutes that transformed my life; and Step Up and Speak Out, where I declare Healing is in Your Release.
Outside of my published books, I speak at businesses, women’s events, and other venues that promote health and mental wellness. I work with clients one one-on-one to provide strategies on navigating their healing journey. As alluded to above, I help women transform from broken to healed. My target client is dealing with shame, guilt, hurt, unforgiveness, lack of trust, or struggling with self-care –they need inner healing. I help them understand forgiveness, rebuild trust, practice self-care, identify triggers and barriers, and provide strategies to overcome and walk in the fullness of joy.
The main thing I’d like readers, potential clients, and followers to know is YOU ARE WORTH THE WORK. As a woman who has walked through the pain of infidelity and made it to the other side (healed), it is doable. Trauma causes us to believe we’re alone and that no one understands. It makes us feel like we’re the only one that has endured hurt and pain, which is not the case. My niche is working with women healing from the hurt of infidelity. I do this because I too, was once in that place. I know what it is to lose who you are, not know how to move forward, second guess your worth, and not like who is looking back in the mirror; all because you were betrayed. It is my desire to Normalize Healing Openly™ because that is how we can suffocate the lie of “I’m the only one.” Truth is, according to the National Institutes of Health, infidelity is the #2 reason for divorce and 60-75% of couples stay together after an affair is discovered. My goal is to help those who choose to stay have a better quality of life and a healthy marriage. Healed people heal relationships. There is no honor in staying in a relationship broken. Do the work! I am here to help you. The majority of my coaching clients are remote so, don’t let distance hinder you from getting the help you need to transform your life.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I am a latecomer to social media. One of my mentors mentioned I needed to get on social media and start building a following so I would have an audience to share my offerings. What she didn’t tell me was to be strategic and be sure I was speaking in a way that would draw my target audience. I literally got on social media around 2018 and didn’t know much about how it worked, and the algorithms is a whole other story. I started to join groups that were of interest and people would post those “follow for follow” posts. It sounded good because it was a quick way to gain followers. Well… that wasn’t smart because now I had a lot of followers that weren’t my target audience, which means low to no engagement. This, of course, leads to frustration. After I published my book and launched my business, I ended up investing in a business academy. Where I learned a lot about identifying my target audience and their needs. One of the memorable moments was hearing my coach say, “Language is a locator.” This is soooo true. It is the way you communicate that will draw your clients. It was at that moment I realized the whole “follow for follow” was a joke. It was more important for me to attract my audience as opposed to having a high number of unengaged followers. I had to start cleaning up my list of followers and those I was following. I learned how to speak to my target audience and post content that would help them, which was my ultimate goal.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I launched my business in the height of COVID. When I wrote my book and planned out the launch, it was all around in-person events. Well, COVID didn’t allow that. I had to pivot to all virtual, which extended my reach. However, I had not built a solid following on social media and wasn’t really comfortable with it. I had hoped to do in-person speaking engagements that had to shift to Zoom. Publishing a book, launching a business, and trying to grow a clientele all in the midst of a pandemic was challenging, to say the least. Oh, did I mention, I was doing all of this while still working my full-time job? Recently, I have decided to pivot in an attempt to do more locally. Virtual has its perks, but there is so much needed in my local community, and I would like to make that happen. It is not always easy, but I’ve learned relationships are currency. I encourage others not to be afraid of pivoting and considering other options. It is most important to be effective and leave the greatest impact. If that means shifting your offerings, do it. At the end of the day, it is about a life being transformed.
