Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dr. Katrina Burrus. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Dr. Katrina, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
I will explain two reasons (rational and emotional) behind our mission during the interview.
1) We transform Brilliant Jerks into Inspiring Leaders
2) We integrate leaders transitioning into a new role from a different national culture company: On-Boarding Across National Cultures.
Dr. Katrina, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
1) How did you get into your industry? I went from managing financial portfolios and proposing investments as a financial analyst to portfolio managers to developing a coaching practice.
2) I trained and was certified as a Master Certified Coach (MCC) by the International Coaching Federation (ICF). As an early adaptor in the coaching profession, I was the first MCC in Switzerland. I knew my passion was to help people. Rather than helping them with their finances, I wanted to support leaders in reaching their goals and having business and personal success.
3) As I had a lot of experience coaching, I decided to focus on two niche markets: Transforming Brilliant Jerks into Inspiring Leaders because newbies don’t want to work with difficult leaders. I also helped leaders with onboarding in new roles internationally. I come from multinational parents. I lived and worked in different countries and I speak the 3 official languages of United Nation organizations. I hoped my International experience would help my clients understand the different mindsets.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I have lived in Switzerland, Italy, Spain, France, and the United States. Each move is a pivot. Market changes are business pivots. A divorce is a personal pivot. My humanitarian action for orphanages in Ukraine is another pivot.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I will pick a story according to the question asked and the interest of your listeners.
