We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dr. Josel Doyle a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Josel, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
I would have to say the best thing my parents did for me was to be my most prominent advocate. I was born two and a half months prematurely, 40 years ago. At 3 lbs 2 oz and left the hospital at 1 lb 2 oz. Sounds too good to be true, right, but failure to thrive and death were the repeated messages my mother remembers, and one day, she decided to go against the grain and requested to take me home. At the time, she was informed that I would have to become a ward of the state because there was no way I would survive, especially not outside the hospital. Well, my mother decided if it was God’s plan, she was okay with it happening at home because so far, they couldn’t get me to feed and gain weight. She convinced my pediatrician to go against her better judgment, which became the journey of walking in my purpose as a neonatologist. I remember, at the age of 5, falling in love with my pediatrician and telling my mother that I wanted to be like her and save babies like she did for me. My mother said I could become anything I wanted to be, so I became it because of my parent unwavering support and advocacy over my life.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Three years ago, despite having a profession that I love, there was a void of unfulfillment that consumed me when I exited the doors of the NICU. At the time, I felt like I was in cruise control but not with the joy and contentment I would have expected, knowing that I was living my dream. However, I knew there was more to what I wanted, and ironically, It was recognizing I needed to water my life. I was depressed, burnt-out, dehydrated, and literally trying to pour from the empty vessel of my mind, body, and soul. I started drinking Kangen water and was able to be energized, and what I thought were once normal: daily headaches, moodiness, and chronic fatigue were actually abnormal. I started to feel better, and then my routine of starting my day with hydration and dedicating time to God’s words led to the ripple effect of pursuing the business of health, wealth, and legacy building based on the holistic wellness I gained from truly watering my life. It was like every cell in my body came alive, and the gigantic dream god placed in my heart came into focus. The way that I began to show up differently for my family, profession, and life could not be denied, but it was also seeing how my family’s health also changed. It motivated me to share this while using my lifestyle as a testament. I went from never drinking water to it practically being the only thing I now consume. For the first time, I could also exercise, eat healthier, and travel regularly. Still, most of all, I started spending quality time with my family and friends without sacrificing my time. I no longer have to trade time for money and be able to serve others by helping them acquire the same transformation that starts with investing in their health with something we need to survive but often overlook: drinking healthy water. It was also reducing my contribution to plastic waste and the environmental impact of bottled water, turning my household into a greener sanctuary with the five water types produced from my water ionizer while reducing my chemical exposure because I get cleaning and beauty options from owning my ionizer. The part that I often fail to share is being able to start a business using my personal brand. What sets my business apart is that working with me, I get to work alongside you to walk you through learning the benefits of your investment, how to leverage your story, and help you get started confidently and scale up.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn that my identity was not my accomplishment. Somewhere along the way, I became so consumed by the checklist of things I believed defined me that I neglected the women. I had to get clear on who I am, whose I am, and where I am going. It was getting so clear that everything I needed and wanted to start from the person staring back at me in the mirror and the God who repeatedly provided and protected my life throughout all my challenges, disappointments, and losses.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
When I started my entrepreneurship journey and rededicated my life to God, I failed to understand the importance of leaning on him completely. I told him what I wanted to do instead of listening to his cautions and redirections. I experienced a devastating situation, and I can now clearly see the error of my ways and the tremendous loss. However, even after walking myself into this situation, God came back and protected me in such a grand way that I will always give him the glory. It is so easy to let our pride and ego of failure and mistakes keep us shackled to never moving forward because looking back is uncomfortable. However, I am thankful for the lesson of knowing my failure and past mistakes do not define my final destination, and my resilience to never give up is a testament to fighting to fulfill my God-given purpose.
