Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dr. John A Robinson, Nmd. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Dr. John, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about the best advice you’ve ever given to a client? (Please note this response is for education/entertainment purposes only and shouldn’t be construed as advice for the reader)
The best advice that I have ever given, or will ever give to a patient, is the Hope of Healing. I was taught this early on in my medical school training; that doctors should always imbue hope at any point along the path. We should always dare to believe in healing and patients should understand this. I always say to every patient, “Healing is always an option.” It is true, patients do not always heal. It is true that patients may die from disease. But the Hope of Healing always remains.

Dr. John, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I have been in healthcare for more than 34 years, first starting in 1991 as an attendant at the world-famous Spa at Camelback Inn in Paradise Valley, Arizona. That experience launched me into Advanced Massage Therapy and led to an exploration in Traditional Chinese Medicine, serving as a founding member of The Phoenix Institute of Herbal Medicine & Acupuncture (PHIMA) in Phoenix. It was during this training that I was led towards becoming a Naturopathic Medical Doctor.
Quickly out of medical school, I began training with one of the pioneers in advanced hormone replacement therapy, Dr. Gino Tutera, and the use of bioidentical hormone pellets. I trained with him personally and worked alongside him for nearly a decade.
I am extremely proud of the consistent work my wife, Dr. Cristina Bosch, and I have done to develop The Hormone Zone and its brand promise. It was through our desire to serve patients with absolute excellence and care that led to our success. From that foundation of patient care, we learned the importance of maintaining a true business spirit and gained insights into the operational side of a medical practice, which we began to perfect.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Most doctors do not bother themselves with the business of medicine. They focus on why they went to medical school: to help patients. However, both my wife and I learned early on that in order to reach more patients and treat them effectively, it is essential to understand the business side of medicine. We always wanted to bring business excellence to The Hormone Zone. Our goal has been to create an interesting brand, nurture it and grow it.
Let’s move on to buying businesses – can you talk to us about your experience with business acquisitions?
I have had the distinct honor of directly learning from the world-renowned high-performance success coach, Mr. Daniel S. Peña, Sr. Mr. Peña lives in Guthrie Castle in Scotland and invites people to come to the castle for a week to immerse themselves in his unique approach to business and life. He is the most unique character I have ever met. He dares you to be more than you think you are or can be, and then dares you some more. I highly suggest you look him up. have been mentored by him since 2018 and have visited the castle on three separate occasions. I also have the pleasure of working closely with him as the Chairman of my acquisitions and management company, Relicus Medical Holdings.
Part of this unique training involves his guidance on buying businesses. Relicus Medical has now acquired five businesses spanning the entire U.S., all related to Hormone Replacement Therapy, Longevity and Wellness, and Medical Aesthetics—all areas I have been involved in for nearly two decades.
I also chose the wellness space because we are seeing a massive move in that direction. Since COVID, we have thankfully seen more people wanting to improve their health in ways that are outside the usual conventional model that has so glaringly failed us. Healthcare is a massive industry, but wellness is rapidly growing sub-niche that is ripe for consolidation.
Acquiring a business is an arduous and difficult process. You have to kiss a lot of frogs, be able to handle rejection, and then keep moving forward. You need the proper advice from professionals that have already “been there and done that.” I put together a Board of Directors who had experience in healthcare transactions, which was indispensable to the process. From there, the best legal and accounting advice also helped to launch our first transactions and thereafter. My advice is to get good advice.
