Dr. Jane , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about how you went about setting up your own practice and if you have any advice for professionals who might be considering starting their own?
The journey to starting my practice has been deeply personal and transformative. I always knew I wanted to open my own practice—even back in physical therapy school—but it wasn’t until 2021 that I truly discovered my passion. After years of studying reproductive and holistic health, I began to explore pelvic health more seriously. This exploration created a bridge between my personal healing journey and my professional path, opening my eyes to the power of the pelvic floor, the importance of healing our wombs, and the need for autonomy in how we care for our bodies. That realization was a pivotal turning point for me.
Early in my career, I worked in geriatric care—a field I respected but one that left me feeling burnt out. I felt like a cog in the wheel of a system focused on managing disease rather than fostering true healing. Instead of being a critical part of someone’s recovery, I felt trapped in the endless cycle of Medicare reimbursements and dependency.
Shifting to pelvic health changed everything. It allowed me to hold space for my patients in a way that felt aligned with my values and the impact I wanted to create. I also fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming a doula, supporting families through births, loss, and postpartum healing. By 2022, I was offering mobile therapy and birth doula services, bringing care to people where they needed it most. As of December 2024, I’ve officially opened the doors to my own office—a warm, inclusive, and dedicated healing space where I can serve my community more fully.
Building my practice has come with its challenges. Balancing the clinical and business aspects, staying true to my mission, and growing the business sustainably has been a constant learning experience. I still consider myself in the early stages, but I’ve learned the value of asking for help, saving strategically, and staying clear on my goals. Slowly and intentionally building has been key to creating something sustainable.
To anyone considering starting their own practice, my advice is this: follow your passion but be open to evolving along the way. It’s okay to not have all the answers upfront. Start small, give yourself grace to learn, and remember—your work can be both a calling and a source of joy.

Dr. Jane , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
For those who may not know me, my name is Dr. Jane Grant, and I’m a pelvic health physical therapist, doula, and holistic wellness advocate. My journey into this field has been shaped by years of personal and professional exploration. Before diving into pelvic health and doula work, I started my first business in 2018—an online herbal shop where I handcrafted herbal products, offered services, and facilitated wellness events. That experience deepened my passion for holistic health, herbalism, energy healing, and movement, all of which I’ve carried forward into my current practice.
Today, I provide full-spectrum doula services, pelvic health coaching, and physical therapy. My offerings also include virtual consultations, telehealth services, and custom wellness plans tailored to each person’s unique needs. I work with people across the gender spectrum to address a wide range of issues, from pelvic floor dysfunction and pregnancy care to postpartum athleticism coaching and preventative wellness. Whether you’re looking for support during pregnancy, guidance on restoring pelvic health, or simply a more holistic approach to well-being, my goal is to meet you where you are and help you thrive.
What sets my work apart is my truly holistic approach to care. I draw on years of experience and study in herbalism, nutrition, somatic healing, self-care practices, s*x education, s*x positivity, and birthwork. I believe in combining the science of physical therapy with the art of holistic healing to create spaces where my clients feel supported, empowered, and seen.
I’m most proud of the way my work integrates so many facets of healing to address the whole person—not just their symptoms. It’s incredibly rewarding to help someone feel more connected to their body, overcome challenges they thought they’d have to live with, and rediscover joy and autonomy in their health.
For potential clients and followers, I want you to know that my practice is a safe, inclusive, and affirming space where your needs will be met with compassion and expertise. Whether you’re navigating pelvic floor dysfunction, preparing for or healing from childbirth, or simply seeking a more holistic approach to wellness, my mission is to help you feel empowered and in control of your health journey.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One of the biggest lessons I had to unlearn was the idea that success needs to happen quickly. As a millennial, we’re so used to instant gratification—getting things on demand, seeing results immediately—and social media only amplifies that mindset. It’s easy to scroll through highlight reels of other business owners who seem to be achieving overnight success, hitting milestones, or scaling their businesses at lightning speed. That constant exposure can make you feel like you’re behind, like you’re not doing enough, or like you need to rush to keep up.
But the truth is, those highlight reels rarely show the years of hard work, mistakes, and growth that went into those achievements. I’ve had to learn that building something meaningful takes time. My dad always says, “Plan your work and work your plan,” and that advice has been my anchor. It reminds me to focus on my goals, not someone else’s timeline, and to embrace the process instead of rushing it.
When I stopped trying to fast-track my progress, I started building a foundation that felt intentional and aligned with my values. What’s built slowly and with care has the best chance of lasting—and that’s something you can’t rush.
For anyone who feels the pressure to keep up with what they see on social media, I’d say this: take a deep breath and trust your process. It’s okay to grow at your own pace. Sustainable success isn’t about instant gratification; it’s about creating something that will stand the test of time.

If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
If I could go back, I’d absolutely choose the same profession, but I would have jumped into pelvic health much sooner in my career. I wish I’d spent my early years carving out this niche, diving deep into the complexities of pelvic health, and sharpening my skills right from the start. While I believe everything happens in divine timing, I can’t help but wonder where I’d be now if I had started earlier.
That said, I’m incredibly grateful and excited to be in this field now. The work I do feels perfectly aligned with my passion and purpose. I’m especially looking forward to continuing to grow and niching further into s*xual health and education—it’s an area I’m so passionate about, and I can’t wait to see how my journey unfolds from here.
