We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dr. Grace Chang. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dr. Grace below.
Alright, Dr. Grace thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
A defining moment in my career came when I was considering transitioning from physical therapy school to naturopathic medicine. I jumped at the opportunity to shadow a seasoned naturopathic doctor to get a better idea of the field. What struck me most was the way he approached patient care—despite having nurses on staff, he personally went into the waiting room to call in patients, take their vitals, and gather their health histories.
I asked him about this practice and he explained that healthcare begins the moment a patient steps into the office. He emphasized how a person’s demeanor—how they respond when their name is called, their body language as they stand up from the chair, the way they walk, and even their body temperature when you take their blood pressure—can provide important insights into their overall health.
This whole-istic, patient-centered approach deeply resonated with me. That moment solidified my decision to pursue naturopathic medicine, and I’ve carried that mindset with me throughout my career. It’s that holistic approach to care that I strive to embody in my practice today.

Dr. Grace, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Grace, and I’m a naturopathic doctor and certified functional medicine provider based in Seattle, WA. My practice specializes in women’s health optimization, hormone balance, and natural aesthetic medicine. My day-to-day work includes wellness exams, interpreting functional medicine labs, and providing aesthetic treatments such as laser therapy and PRP injections. My approach is to assess each condition thoroughly and create a tailored plan—whether using natural or pharmaceutical tools—to address the root cause and empower my patients on their health journey.
Women’s health is my passion because I’ve seen how often women’s needs are lost in conventional medicine and research. The complexity of hormones, for example, is too often dismissed, leaving women without the answers they need. After years of learning to advocate for my own health, it’s an honor to now serve and speak up for other women, ensuring they feel heard and supported in their care.
One area I find especially overlooked is vaginal health. I focus on addressing conditions like tissue atrophy, vaginal dryness, and recurrent infections, using advanced therapies such as PRP injections for vaginal rejuvenation. Helping women regain confidence and comfort in this aspect of their health is incredibly rewarding.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Building a reputation in the field of naturopathic medicine, particularly in women’s health, comes down to one key principle: listening. I believe that healing truly begins when a patient feels heard and understood. Every patient carries a unique story, and often, the answers to their struggles lie within the context of their lives, not just in their symptoms. By listening deeply and learning from each individual, I’m able to create a more holistic approach to care, one that respects their whole being—body, mind, and spirit.
I also make it a priority not to focus solely on the disease, but on the person as a whole. It’s important that the process of creating a treatment plan is collaborative and empowering for the patient. Ultimately, they are the medicine, not me.
Networking and collaborating with other healthcare professionals has also played a significant role in building my practice. I’m always looking for ways to expand my knowledge and expertise, and working alongside other skilled professionals means my patients have access to a broader range of tools and insights. There are many branches to the medicine tree of health professionals and knowing what options are out there helps my patients receive well-rounded care.
Social media has also been a valuable tool for me to share insights on health empowerment. There is such a vast audience of people searching for guidance, and I enjoy providing educational content that empowers individuals to take control of their health. It’s incredible to see how people respond to these messages and how it can create stronger patient-doctor relationships.
Ultimately, staying humble, grounded, and hungry to learn has been essential in building my reputation. Every day is an opportunity to grow, learn from my patients, and connect with others. That mindset has allowed me to cultivate a practice that is patient-centered, informed, and always evolving.

Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
Absolutely. This profession has provided a solid foundation in the sciences as well as training in botanical medicine, nutraceuticals, and mind-body medicine. I truly believe in the body’s ability to heal itself and I get to spend my career learning and advocating for my patients to better understand and utilize the power their body innately has.
