We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dr. Gordon Fimreite a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Dr. Gordon , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
I don’t think there was a single defining moment, but rather a series of life experiences—both personal and professional—that shaped who I am and why I’m so passionate about helping others regain their health.
Growing up in a small rural community gave me a unique foundation. We had large gardens, ate fresh produce, and lived organically before I even knew what that word meant. I was also very involved in athletics, and that drive to be in top condition sparked an early interest in how diet, movement, and recovery impact performance and overall well-being.
But one major turning point in my journey came through a personal injury. While attending Palmer College of Chiropractic, I was hit head-on by a car while riding my bike. I was thrown onto the windshield, shattering it, and then into the air. Miraculously, I walked away without any torn tendons, ligaments, or broken bones—but I had serious neck and back issues immediately after.
That accident was a wake-up call. Because I was attending chiropractic college, I was able to start care right away. It didn’t just relieve my symptoms—it accelerated my healing, restored my mobility, and gave me a profound, firsthand understanding of how the spine, soft tissue, and nervous system work together.
Today, I have no residual issues from that accident, and I continue to receive regular chiropractic care—not to treat a problem, but to maintain my health and function. That experience completely changed how I view health and how I treat patients. It reinforced that healing isn’t about masking symptoms—it’s about restoring proper function and supporting the body’s natural ability to heal.
So whether I’m treating someone with an injury, addressing chronic symptoms, or helping them stay well, I bring that same philosophy: focus on the root cause, empower the body’s natural healing, and aim for lasting results.
That accident didn’t just affect my spine—it strengthened my purpose. It deepened my commitment to helping others live fully, with optimal function and true health.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
About My Practice, Services & Philosophy
At Chiropractic in Auburn-Opelika, our mission is simple: to make exceptional, personalized chiropractic care accessible to everyone in our community. We’re here to help people feel better, move better, and live fuller lives.
We offer personalized chiropractic care focused on restoring function, improving posture, mobility, and energy, and supporting long-term wellness—at a pace and plan that fits each patient’s individual goals. Our office also provides advanced services like Shockwave Therapy, a non-invasive treatment used for chronic pain, sports injuries, and soft tissue healing—often for cases that haven’t responded to other forms of treatment.
We care for a wide range of people: athletes recovering from overuse injuries, expectant mothers managing pregnancy-related back pain, busy professionals with posture issues, and active adults striving to stay mobile and healthy. Whether there are symptoms in the neck, back, or extremities, our approach is always the same—listen first, personalize care, and keep it affordable and approachable.
What sets our office apart is the experience. We’ve created a space that’s warm, welcoming, and free from pressure. There’s no long-winded treatment plans or insurance headaches. We offer same or next-day appointments, flexible pricing (including HSA/FSA support), and a focus on education, so patients understand their care and feel empowered in the process.
We’re proud to have built a strong reputation on word of mouth and patient referrals. There’s no greater endorsement than the online reviews and kind words from our patients.
My work as a chiropractor is also deeply rooted in wellness education. I’m the author of the Amazon bestseller 15 Steps to Healthy Living, a wellness book recognized nationally, and I co-host The Health Angle Podcast, where we explore everyday strategies to help our viewers take proactive steps to optimize their health and be the best versions of themselves.
We offer natural, effective care designed to support your body’s function and help you thrive every day. Whether you’re new to chiropractic or returning after years, we meet you where you are and walk with you toward better health.
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Beyond training and knowledge, I believe the key to succeeding in chiropractic care is understanding that every individual’s body, lifestyle, and health goals are different—allowing me to tailor care that truly makes a difference.
Building trust is essential—when patients are valued as individuals, they become active partners in their healing, which leads to better outcomes. People return not only because they feel better, but because they know their health genuinely matters here.
Staying curious and adaptable is also crucial, since no two cases are exactly alike. This mindset allows me to continually grow and offer the most effective, personalized care possible.
Finally, cultivating a welcoming, pressure-free environment empowers patients to take control of their health confidently.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
It really comes down to patient experience and trust. I’ve always believed that when you treat people with respect, listen to their concerns, and help them restore their health, they’ll naturally spread the word. I don’t rely on advertising—my reputation has been built by patients sharing their experiences and referring friends and family. Whether it’s an athlete sending in a teammate or a parent bringing in their child, those referrals are the highest compliment.
That kind of trust and word-of-mouth is one of the most rewarding parts of my practice—and a big reason I love what I do.
