We were lucky to catch up with Dr. Dionne Greaves recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Dionne, thanks for joining us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.

The biggest, life-changing risk I have ever taken was to make The BIG Leap from my corporate job into full-time entrepreneurship. It was by far the biggest risk I’ve ever taken but it has paid and continues to pay great dividends. I have absolutely no regrets about doing it because the timing was absolutely perfect and could not have happened at a better time.

Last October, I walked away from corporate and unofficially retired from full-time employment because God woke me up with a word that simply said “Now Is The Time”. When that word came, I knew exactly what He meant so I did not hesitate. The very next morning – one day before my birthday – I submitted my resignation and walked away from corporate for good!

Now some of you may be thinking “This girl is crazy…..she left her corporate job because God told her, “Now is the time?”

So here’s the backstory…

Prior to becoming a full-time mompreneur, I was working at a multinational telecommunications company for 7 and a half years. I started out in an entry-level position before being transitioned into more administrative-type roles – first as an Administrative Assistant and then as an Executive Assistant. I was often referred to as the “Superstar” because of my ability to support a Vice President and team of almost twenty of his direct reports speedily and efficiently. The Superstar trait was a blessing when I needed to get things done but it soon became a curse when my employer used it to take advantage of me.

I spent the past 5 and a half years without being fairly compensated and constantly at loggerheads with my employer fighting to be paid fairly. Up until last August, I was still being paid as an entry-level salary so suffice it to say, the day I left corporate was the best day of my life and it has been even better every day since then. After leaving my full-time job, I was able to replace my monthly income in ten days, double it in 28 days, and triple it by the first quarter of 2023. To date, I have replaced my annual income completely.

Dr. Dionne, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Can you open up about how you funded your business?

When I first thought about starting my business, I didn’t have a dime to spare (or so I thought). However, I decided to participate in a beta program, and with the help of a finance coach, and through diligent budgeting, I discovered that there was actually some money available for me to use towards launching my business. With this amazing discovery, my very first investment went into purchasing lights, microphones, and other essential equipment for the launch of my Talk Show. From there, I began coaching a small, intimate group of clients and utilized the income generated to further expand my business. In 2020, I was blessed with a vision from God who revealed to me an extraordinary future where I would be traveling the world, speaking on stage, and empowering thousands of women. Since then, I have been able to bring this vision to life by creating and monetizing my own speaker platforms that allow me to fulfill my purpose and make a positive impact on a much grander scale. Every step of this exhilarating journey has strengthened my confidence and reinforced my belief that I am destined for extraordinary success.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?

Relationships are indeed a powerful form of currency, and based on my experience, social media has proven to be an invaluable source for connecting with potential clients. Social media has been able to transcend geographical and time zone boundaries which has allowed me to connect with women of all walks of life. My preferred platform and primary channel for building and establishing meaningful connections is Facebook. I get to share glimpses of my daily life and to also showcase success stories and celebrate my personal achievements. By offering this authentic and transparent window into my world, I have been able to attract and command the attention of like-minded women who resonate with my message. Building relationships is at the heart of my approach, and Facebook provides me with the ideal space to be able to cultivate these valuable connections. As I nurture these relationships, a natural progression occurs: many of these women end up participating in my events, lending their voices to my speaker platforms, engaging in collaborations, and, ultimately, becoming invaluable clients. Social media, especially Facebook, has revolutionized the way I connect with new clients by empowering me to expand my reach, impact, and influence in ways that were once unimaginable.
