We were lucky to catch up with Dr. Demira Devoil recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Dr. Demira thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
When asked about legacy, most people may think of legacy in terms of when you leave this Earth; however, I like to think about legacy in terms of what I’m depositing on this Earth while I’m here. It’s those intricate details of how we live our life daily that writes the story for legacy. For years I’ve purposed in my heart to be a blessing to this world. I grew up in a small town plagued with poverty, and at a young age I knew that I was destined to be more than what my environment said I should be. Through perseverance and dedication, I’ve left a mark on this world. I’ve traveled near and far helping those in need, while being a light in dark places. Hopeful Arms Foundation was birthed through the grit and passion to educate others on how to break the cycles of poverty in their family. Even in my entrepreneurial pursuits, as a business owner I find a way to help those who are underrepresented in my industry. I hope that my legacy is one that has people remembering me for being kind, an overcomer, a giver, a hope dealer, lover of all things friends & family, and serial entrepreneur!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My life has been branded by being a change agent in personal and business. I am the founder of Hopeful Arms Foundation and a entrepreneur. I am the CEO of Devoil Solutions LLC, Devoil Logistics LLC, and the COO of ND Lewis Trucking LLC. I founded Hopeful Arms Foundation because I wanted to create change in this world. Hopeful Arms Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit and our mission is to see single parents and those in low income communities reach goals to eradicate poverty. We serve the communities by giving Rebirth seminars in shelters, Mentor programs, and Meet the Need Outreach initiatives for the Homeless and Single Parents.
Devoil Solutions LLC is an IT consulting company, and we staff IT professionals. One way that we set ourselves apart is by staffing STEM centered positions that are underrepresented with minorities and woman. We believe in diversity with in the workplace. Our mission is to utilize technology to cultivate relationships, develop productive partnerships, and enrich the lives of our clients by providing effective resources at the right time.
Devoil Logistics LLC and ND Lewis Trucking LLC is a logistics & transportation company that acts as a liaison between truck drivers and their customers (shippers). We strive to promote growth in the community by educating others on the opportunities in logistics and transportation.
We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
Well I got into the logistics and transportation industry as a side hustle. I wanted to learn more about the business side but I didn’t initially want to invest in purchasing a truck so I started out dispatching for truck drivers. I started with one trucking company for extra money, and now my logistics company has helped over 20 trucking companies with their day to day operations. I never imagined being able to scale up so fast, I was able to hire 2 part time dispatchers in the first year. This was one of my key milestones with Devoil Logistics LLC. Another key milestone was meeting my business partner for ND Lewis Trucking, Nicholas Lewis. The growth that we have made with ND Lewis Trucking over the past year has been mind blowing. I definitely didn’t expect for our fleet of trucks to grow so quickly but now we are the #1 hotshot trucking company in East Texas.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?
The best advice I can give is to make sure you practice what you preach. For example, be a doer of what your asking of your team. Team’s with high morale are made from the respect that they have for their leader. If you want them to show up early, you show up before everyone else with donuts. A good leader is one who listens to their team, listen to their teams concerns and needs. When managing a team, it takes a lot of managing personalities; therefore, make sure that you focus on getting to know your team individually. By doing this you will be able to determine how each member fits into the team.
