Alright, Dr. Danyel Nicole thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Crown Me Foundation is a non-profit community service organization founded in 2020 by Danyel Nicole Black. She envisioned an organization whose purpose is to provide support to girls and women locally, nationally, and internationally through established programs and outreach events.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Dr, Danyel Nicole Black, is a native of New Orleans, LA and currently resides in Slidell, LA. She is a two- time graduate Xavier University where she obtained Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. She recently completed her doctorate in Educational Leadership (PhD) at Pacific University where her research includes identifying and addressing barriers to educational mobility, equity, success, and motivation. Her leadership and commitment to service are exemplified by her numerous awards, participation in various organizations, and volunteerism.
In 2020, Danyel founded Crown Me Foundation in effort to restore and heal self, communities and families. She recognized the need for supporting girls and women, especially those from traditionally marginalized communities, as they navigate through life and social adversities. Through effective programming, sustainable partnerships, and energetic volunteers, Crown Me has positively impacted the lives of countless girls and women and continues to blaze the trails with Pink & Gold.
Danyel is a certified life coach, author, motivational speaker, graduate of Monica Pierre’s Story Maker Academy, and a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Of her many accomplishments, she is most proud of being called “mom” by two amazing sons, Carter and Connor.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I had to unlearn that other peoples’ story endings are not mine! My positive outcome depends on me! It doesn’t matter what happened and didn’t happen for others. I get to choose without limitations.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
The more I healed the more I had to pivot. Our lives in love and business are a reflection of our healing or of our trauma. It
