We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dr. Chinonso Abisogun a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Dr. Chinonso, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
**If there’s one thing I carry with me every single day—it’s the mindset my parents instilled in me.**
They came to America alone, with nothing but work ethic, faith, and a dream they were willing to chase without a map. I watched them build from the ground up. No shortcuts. No safety nets. Just **grit, perseverance, and an unshakable belief** that whatever you desire in life can unfold for you if you believe for it and work for it.
**That’s the foundation of everything I am,** still rooted in the values that shaped me.
They taught me that the most powerful gift a parent can give is **exposure**—to show your kids what’s possible, encourage them to be proud of who they are and where they come from, and to **never make themselves smaller** to fit in.
Because **confidence doesn’t come from blending in—it comes from knowing your story is your superpower.**
That’s what *Eye Am Beauty Network* that I created is built on: **abundance, audacity, and authenticity.** The belief that anything is possible when you lead with heart, hustle, and purpose.
As a tribute to them, I hope everything I do serves as a reminder that You can be excellent. You can make room for others while taking up space. You already have everything you need inside of you.

Dr. Chinonso, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
**I’m Dr. Chinonso—dermatologist, beauty expert, wellness lover, and founder of Eye Am Beauty Network where I host podcasts episodes centering raw unfiltered beauty conversations. Chino Daily at [chinodaily.com](http://chinodaily.com) is my personal brand where I give regular updates on what I’m up to. You can find me on ig at @drkarenk and on tiktok @thechinodaily. Eye Am Beauty Network is launching on all podcasts and youtube platforms.**
My story started with two incredibly hardworking parents who came to this country from Nigeria with vision, grit, and faith; believing that *you* can create something meaningful.
That mindset shaped everything I am.
I became a board-certified dermatologist because I believe in **beauty with intention**—not filters, not fluff, but **real results grounded in science** and delivered with compassion. I’ve always been drawn to the intersection of clinical expertise, innovative beauty technology, and creative expression, and that’s exactly what I bring to the table.
Through my brand *Chino Daily*, I merge **dermatology, beauty, and living a wellness centered purpose driven lifestyle. Beauty is deeply personal and my aim in each project and each launch is to create a** space for **education, empowerment, and elevation**. I create educational content and services that demystify skincare, nurture the skin you’re in, and help people feel beautiful in a way that’s rooted in their **truth**.
### Here’s what I do:
– I provide **evidence-based skincare education** that’s digestible, inclusive, and actionable.
– I provide **consulting and create content** that bridges the gap between clinical expertise and cultural relevance.
– I work with brands and individuals to bring **real dermatology insights** into campaigns, launches, and content that resonates.
### The problems I solve:
– For clients: I help them understand their skin and feel empowered in their routines, not overwhelmed by them.
– I provide in office aesthetic treatments that enhances my patients natural beauty, so that they can feel confident in their daily pursuits.
– For the beauty industry: I bring **representation and medical credibility** to this space.
What sets me apart is that I’ve **walked in both worlds**—the clinical one and the creative one. I understand the science *and* the storytelling. I speak the language of medicine, but I also speak directly to the woman who’s trying to figure out what’s real in a sea of beauty noise.
What I’m most proud of is that I get to show women—that they belong in every room, on every stage, and in every mirror. That their skin is worthy of care, their voice is worthy of amplification, and their dreams are worthy of pursuit.
At the end of the day, *Chino Daily and Eye Am Beauty* aren’t just about skincare. They’re about helping people feel seen, supported, and **undeniably powerful** in their beauty journey.
**If you’re looking for real conversations, expert insight, and a little bit of luxury along the way—you’re in the right place.**
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Beyond training and clinical knowledge, I believe the ability to truly relate to my patients and audience is one of the most powerful tools in my field.
I say that because—I am my target audience. I am my patient. I share many of the same concerns, questions, and lived experiences as the people I serve. That connection allows me to approach both patient care and content creation with a level of compassion, authenticity, and genuine interest that you can’t fake.
Whether I’m treating a skin condition, creating educational content, or working on a new project, I always lead from that place of real understanding.
I also believe a growth mindset is essential—not just in dermatology, but in life. Things are constantly evolving in science, beauty, and wellness, and staying curious, open, and adaptable allows me to better serve others and grow alongside them.
It’s that mix of empathy and evolution that keeps me grounded and moving forward.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I think there’s this common belief that success only follows one blueprint—but that’s just not true.
What I’ve learned over time is that the most impactful thing you can do is show up as your authentic self. We need more people standing confidently in who they are because that’s how the people you’re meant to serve will find you.
That’s been a powerful and constant reminder for me: your journey is your own and it doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s.
