We were lucky to catch up with Dr. Angela Holliday-bell recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Dr. Angela thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
A defining moment for me was when I suffered from insomnia during my medical training. It was the most stressful and difficult experience I’ve ever had and is what sent me on my quest to learn more about sleep. In the process, I fell in love with sleep and started to put the therapeutic principles into place that I was learning about, and I saw my sleep and my life change for the better. After seeing how significant of a difference it made in my life, I knew I had to help other people do the same. It was my struggle that sparked my passion to help others going through the same struggle.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Dr. Angela Holliday-Bell, a Board-Certified Physician and Certified Clinical Sleep Specialist, as well as the author of Sleeping on the Job and the founder of The Solution is Sleep LLC. My journey into the world of sleep medicine wasn’t just professional, it was deeply personal. During my medical training, I struggled with debilitating insomnia. The exhaustion and brain fog affected my performance, my mood, and my overall well-being. Once I finally learned how to fix my sleep, the transformation was life-changing. That’s when I realized I wasn’t alone, so many high-achieving professionals and everyday people were silently struggling with the same issue. I knew I had to help.
Through my sleep consulting company, I now help individuals and corporations unlock their full potential by improving their sleep. I work with those battling insomnia through group coaching, guiding them toward restful nights and more productive days. On the corporate side, I collaborate with companies to enhance employee performance, reduce burnout, and boost overall well-being by teaching their teams how to rest strategically.
What sets me apart is my unique blend of medical expertise, personal experience, and a relatable, science-backed approach. I don’t just offer textbook advice. I provide real, actionable strategies that fit into busy lives. Whether it’s through my book, coaching, speaking engagements, or social media content, my goal is to make high-quality sleep education accessible, engaging, and easy to implement.
One of the things I’m most proud of is the impact my work has had on people’s lives. Seeing clients go from feeling exhausted and overwhelmed to thriving. both personally and professionally, is incredibly rewarding. Sleep is the foundation of health, success, and resilience, and my mission is to help as many people as possible harness its power.
For those new to my work, I want them to know that sleep isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity. If you’re constantly feeling drained, struggling with focus, or burning out, the problem might not be your workload, it might be your rest. I’m here to show you how to sleep smarter, so you can perform better, feel better, and live better.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Other than training and knowledge, I believe the most important factors for success in my field are empathy and communication. Sleep isn’t just a biological process, it’s deeply personal. People struggling with insomnia or burnout don’t just need facts; they need someone who truly understands their struggles and can guide them with both expertise and compassion.
Communication is also key. I bridge the gap between complex sleep science and real-world application, ensuring that my advice is not only evidence-based but also practical and engaging. Whether I’m coaching a client, delivering a keynote, or creating social media content, my goal is always to make sleep education accessible and actionable.
At the end of the day, success in this field isn’t just about knowing the science, it’s about knowing how to connect, inspire, and create meaningful change in people’s lives.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Building my reputation within the sleep and wellness space has been a combination of expertise, authenticity, and consistency.
My credibility as a Board-Certified Physician and Certified Clinical Sleep Specialist has given me a strong foundation. But beyond credentials, I’ve built trust by sharing both evidence-based strategies and personal experiences. My own struggle with insomnia allows me to connect with people on a deeper level. I’m not just a sleep expert, I’ve been in their shoes.
Another key factor has been showing up consistently across different platforms. I break down complex sleep science into simple, actionable advice that resonates with busy professionals, parents, and companies alike. This consistency has helped me grow a loyal audience and attract meaningful partnerships.
At the core of my reputation is my mission, to help people harness the power of sleep to be healthier, more successful, and more fulfilled. Staying true to that mission has been the key to my success.
