We were lucky to catch up with Dr. Ana’Neicia Williams recently and have shared our conversation below.
Dr. Ana’Neicia, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
I believe I am currently walking in my defining moment in my professional career. We are conditioned early on to know what interests us and the career path we should take. I would like to uplift that you can pivot and change within your professional career. I work within the service field that centers individuals and communities within maternal/child and reproductive health. I was under the impression that I could only serve by providing therapy services but in the last year I’ve been able to shift into creating therapeutic spaces and events that offers healing to those in need. This has changed my trajectory by listening and observing what the community needs while also sparking my gifts to reveal themselves. Having the ability to not only offer individual services to people but get them connected to community in a holistic way is rewarding.
Dr. Ana’Neicia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a woman of many gifts and talents but one I land with is community connector. I am a proud licensed clinical social worker. I am also a three-time graduate of Spalding University where I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Master of Social Work and Doctor of Social Work with a specialization in Leadership and Administration. When I walked into the industry I began on the frontlines as a youth worker serving children who are in residential care. Over time I’ve found my home in serving women and families. From family advocacy, substance use counselor, director or programming and now being my own boss. Nothing prepared me for entrepreneurship but I noticed a gap and created momology maternal wellness club. In my practice I offer coaching, counseling and consulting to organizations, individuals and communities. I have individual clients that reach in to explore their parenting, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders or even pregnancy loss. Then I create spaces for community to heal. Organizations lean into my business for guidance on how to create policies and procedure that support employees and those they serve. I am also able to offer consulting on policy advocacy.
To sum up what I do, I work to ensure that individuals and communities human rights are respected and honored. When those are disregarded and disrespected I support through advocacy and with healing practices. I’m most proud of doing what I love. No day looks the same and when I am emerged in community I am happiest.
What id like people to know about my brand is that I motivate and cultivate individuals and communities as a connector, healer, strategic and creative, problem solver. I take pride in curating therapeutic spaces with the integration of culture.
If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
I would absolutely choose this profession but I would probably take a different route. My profession is where I know I am supposed to be but I’ve learned that I can color outside of the lines in how I do this work.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Authenticity and consistency. I show up in spaces as my true self and I take time to build relationships with people. For consistency, I follow through with what I say I will do and I do not over promise or overcommit. If there is a time when I was unsuccessful in doing that, I take accountability and I ensure I provide what is needed to reconcile.
