We were lucky to catch up with Dr. Alexandria Johnson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Alexandria , thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
From a young age, I always had big ideas and a strong determination. One of my dreams was to leave my small community of fewer than 500 people and move to the city to attend university and become a Clinical Psychologist. Keep in mind that my family barely graduated from high school. Yet, I felt God pushing me in this direction. I knew I could not call home for help because I left five younger siblings at home. Yet still, I had faith that it would happen.
It was a lofty goal, but I completed the application, and to my surprise, I was accepted into college. It took me two years to save $1,200.00 for my first semester. As the semester approached, I packed my belongings into cardboard boxes—since we didn’t own suitcases—and boarded a boat for a five-hour journey to the city.
I experienced the power of God at work. Within the first three weeks, I secured living with family and a job to keep me going. This was all I needed to rest assured that God was with me and would not leave on this journey.
Today, I hold an Associate of Arts degree in Psychology and Sociology, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology, a Master of Science in Child Forensic Studies: Psychology and Law, an Honorary Doctorate, and I’m just months away from earning a Ph.D. in Christian Education and a Ph.D. in Christian Counseling.
Today, I have lived long enough to see others inspired by my faith and to see how they, too, with faith in God and determination, are striving for excellence.
Through this journey, I’ve realized that living is about taking risks. To achieve big rewards, we must be willing to step out and take those risks.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I consider myself someone deeply passionate about helping others achieve their goals. Creating opportunities for people to grow and succeed is a great honor. This passion has evolved into a three-pronged approach to serving others.
At Winners Avenue Books, we are blessed to provide opportunities for individuals to become published authors and achieve International best-selling status through our anthology training programs. We are honored to teach others how to market, self-publish, and start their own anthology projects. It gives us great joy to see others step out in this way.
For the past 19 years at Salt and Light International, I’ve spoken at schools, churches, and organizations, sharing messages about mental and spiritual wellness. In 2024, I was also honored to be coached and mentored and to share the stage with Mr. Les Brown, a man of greatness whose messages of hope have helped me through some of my darkest moments. This has been a significant milestone in my career. It brings me great joy to help others break free from limiting beliefs and live the life that they were destined for.
At Getaway Travel Agency, we offer opportunities for people to unwind and recharge at exotic destinations worldwide, helping you return stronger and more focused to serve only people you can reach.
Our mandate is to help others be all that they can be, and I am honored to be able to do that in my lifetime.

Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Training and knowledge play a crucial role in positioning a person for the ultimate success in their field. Firstly, it is essential for each individual to seek and find the blueprint for their God-given destiny. When you are where you need to be, doing what you are called to do and reaching the people you are meant to reach, you are positioning yourself to become a powerful force.
When you combine training and knowledge with obedience in walking out your God-given purpose, you are guaranteed to achieve unprecedented success—success that others can only dream about.
Get clear on what you are called to do, invest in the necessary training and knowledge, and pursue that destiny relentlessly. Your legacy will speak for you long after you’re gone.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn the idea that success is a linear process and that failure doesn’t always mean that you are failing. For a time, everything I touched seemed to turn to gold, and I was on a good run with success. Then, I encountered an obstacle that was meant to stretch me. On the surface, it appeared that I was failing—and failing miserably.
However, beneath the surface, I was growing. I was becoming stronger, wiser, and more determined. I confronted my failure with this newfound strength, wisdom, and determination—and ultimately succeeded.
Success always means you’re winning, but failure doesn’t always mean you’re failing.
