Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Douglas Mincey. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Douglas, thanks for joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
The Meatbone Market story begins with a young man named Douglas Arthur Mincey, who at a very young age lost his parents, found himself having to assume the responsibilities of an adult.
At 17 he got his first job at Greens Grocery and there he learned everything about this world of meat, special cuts and grills. He became a responsible adult with the dream of one day running his own business. After 11 years working at Greens, his wife’s support, and their business experience, the idea of Meatbone was born.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Douglas started at a small hometown grocery store in Gainesville, Ga back in 2008. It was his first real job, which he knew nothing about at the time, he began learning about meats. He takes pride in what he does and was confident he could start his own shop with 13 years of experience. After meeting his wife (Amanda Morais) and in laws (Roberto and Debora Morais), they told him that they had businesses of their own. Soon after, the idea was born of our family opening our own business. We did plenty of planning and worked together to finally make the dream come true. We all love food and cooking so why not share what we eat with everyone else. Bringing American and Brazilian cultures together.
