We recently connected with Douglas Kampner and have shared our conversation below.
Douglas, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Have you signed with an agent or manager? Why or why not?
I connected with my agents through a mix of professional networking and mutual recommendations within the entertainment industry. Sovereign Talent Agency, The Wild Model Agency, and MJB Talent Agency each saw something unique in my portfolio—whether it was my ability to take on dynamic roles, my professional versatility, or my commitment to honing my craft.
I decided to work with them because they align with my vision for my career. They understand the range of work I bring to the table, from film and television to commercial and print campaigns. It was clear they were genuinely invested in helping me grow and reach my full potential.
As for why they chose me, I believe my track record of delivering on set, my professionalism, and my passion for every project I take on stood out. They also appreciated my commitment to collaboration, which helps bring any creative vision to life. It’s been a mutually rewarding partnership ever since.

Douglas, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I got my start in the entertainment industry through a family connection to Bing Crosby, who lived just two houses away from me. He introduced me to Hollywood, and my first role was as a newsboy in Disney’s Newsies. From there, I worked on Baywatch and progressed to more significant roles, such as in Argo and The People vs. O.J. Simpson. Before diving fully into acting, I also gained valuable experience working at an advertising agency in San Francisco, where I contributed to the iconic “Got Milk?” campaign.
My drive and work ethic come from my father, who was an orthopedic surgeon. Watching his dedication to his profession taught me the value of hard work, focus, and perseverance—qualities I’ve carried into my career.
What sets me apart from others is my versatility. I’ve had the privilege of taking on diverse roles, from being a lifeguard on Baywatch to playing a CIA agent in Argo and even working as a body double for John Travolta. Outside of acting, I’m also an oil painter, with my work featured in multiple galleries across Los Angeles. This dual focus on art and acting allows me to bring a fresh perspective and depth to everything I do.
I’m especially proud of launching my official website: https://douglaskampner.com , which showcases my acting reels, photos, and career highlights. It’s a way for me to connect with my audience and share my journey.
The main thing I want my followers to know about me is that my brand is about authenticity and passion. Whether through acting or art, I’m dedicated to telling stories that resonate. I hope to inspire others to pursue their dreams and embrace their individuality.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Absolutely. My mission has always been to create work that connects with people on a deeper level, whether through acting or art. As an actor, I aim to bring authenticity to every role I play, making the characters relatable and their stories impactful. I believe storytelling has the power to inspire, heal, and even challenge perspectives, and that’s what drives me to continue growing in this craft.
As an artist, my goal is to evoke emotion through color and texture, drawing from the vivid and expressive styles of Vincent van Gogh. I want my paintings to transport viewers to a moment or feeling, allowing them to pause and reflect amidst the rush of everyday life.
Ultimately, my creative journey is about leaving a lasting impression and contributing something meaningful. Whether I’m on a set or in front of a canvas, my mission is to give my best, stay true to myself, and inspire others to pursue their own passions with the same dedication and love for the process.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
After 31 years in Hollywood, the most important thing I’ve learned is the power of perseverance. This industry is full of highs and lows, but I’ve never allowed setbacks to define my path. Early in my career, I worked on Newsies and Baywatch, and while those were incredible opportunities, the road to consistent success wasn’t always easy. I’ve faced periods of uncertainty, where auditions didn’t pan out, and roles felt just out of reach.
One moment that stands out is when I decided to fully commit to my craft after years of working on supporting roles. I took on new challenges, diversified my skill set, and even explored my artistic side through painting, which gave me a renewed sense of creativity. All of this paid off when I landed roles in projects like Argo and the YSL holiday campaign—proof that hard work and patience always pay off.
Another key to my resilience was learning to pivot when needed. Before acting, I worked at an advertising agency in San Francisco, contributing to campaigns like “Got Milk?” That experience taught me the importance of storytelling, which I’ve carried into my acting and art. And now, I’m proud to share that I’ve launched my official website: https://douglaskampner.com , to showcase my journey and connect with fans in a meaningful way.
Follow-up: What motivates you to keep going after all these years?
What keeps me going is my passion for storytelling and the belief that every opportunity brings me closer to connecting with audiences on a deeper level. I’m inspired by my father’s dedication as an orthopedic surgeon, which instilled in me a strong work ethic and the drive to excel. At the end of the day, I want to leave behind a legacy that shows it’s never too late to pursue your dreams and create something truly meaningful.
